Another celebration where people give and receive is Christmas. Jake was born in 2009 the year of the Ox. Jake thought that instead of swimming across the river the animals could have just floated on their backs to see who could win the race floating across the river.

  4. Zachary says:

I receive lots of gifts at Christmas time. I was born in the year of the Ox in 2009. Instead of animals the Emperor could have named the 12 years after insects. For example the year of the spider, the red ant, beetle and many more. Instead of racing he could have asked the animals or insects to make houses and see who was fastest to build one.

  5. Borys says:

We receive lots of gifts during Christmas and on our birthdays. I was born in 2010 which is the Chinese Tiger Year. My Dad was born in the Rabbit Year, my Mum in the Snake Year and my little brother Alexander in the Dragon Year.

  7. Alex says:

Alex had lots of gifts at Christmas. He was born in 2010 which was the year of the tiger, Alex thinks this is great because his hair is the same colour as a tigers!! We tried to think of other things the Emperor could have named the years after. We decided colours, birds or insects. Alex knows that the order of the animals is to do with where they came in the race. Alex thought they could have chosen depending on who has the loudest voice!

  8. Mili says:

I was born in the year of the Tiger. I think that the Emperor could have named the 12 years by his favourite food.
I celebrated Diwali last year – it is the festival of light and we receive gifts. I also receive lots of gifts at Xmas.

  9. Ross Little says:

I was born in the year of the ox like lots of my friends. The emperor could have named them different colours. We receive lots of gifts on our birthday. He could have asked the animals to read books to see who could read the most books in 30 minutes.

I was born in the year of the Ox. The Emperor could have used colours to name each year. At Christmas time I receive lots of gifts.

Although Adam was born in 2010 in the Chinese New Year it was still the year of the Ox because the Chinese New Year is in February after Adams birthday. Adam thought it was funny that his Dad was born in the year of the rabbit.
