Year 5 had a chat about what it takes to be an owl. We can try to find a way that everyone can be friends again, or talk to everyone and suggest ideas to fix problems. We think it is important to talk to your friends and suggest ways that we can move forward.
We have decided in year 5 that in order for us to be owls, we need to listen more to what it is others are saying.
Year 1 said that they needed to be like the fox and the owl if they were going to sort out a situation. They felt that these animals would reach a successful ending to a problem and leave everybody happy and getting on well together. They all agreed that the shark would be the worst animal to be and said they didn’t want any sharks in our school!!
All the children said that Miss Mason was a good owl as she was wise and tried to make sure that everybody at Cheswick Green school was happy and working well together.
Things Year 6 will try to do to become more like the owl:
– Be friendly to others
– Don’t mumble or be negative if you have to work with someone you don’t want to work with
– Work together as a team
– Smile
– Listen to other people
– Don’t just get your own chair/book, but get those for other people too
– Look out for other people
– If someone is hurt, help them
We think that if we are friendly to others, others will be friendly to us.
I think the owl is very important because you should always try and work with others. The shark would be the least important because you can’t always win at everything.
Foundation think that it is good to be a good and kind friend, we don’t like arguing with our friends because it makes us feel sad. We like to try hard to be an owl and work well with our friends.
Isla said ‘ I like the fox because it is kind’
Ollie said ‘ I like the teddy bear because he goes and tries to make argumets better’
Alice said ‘ I would like to be a teddy bear because he doesn’t like to argue and he is kind’
Ava said ‘I would like to be the turtle because he is trying to make his friends happy’
Foundation think that it is not nice to be a shark because he is always upsetting his friends and being nasty.
I think I would be the owl. Gives to others, encourages compromise. I think the worst one to be would be the shark.

We think that in order to help sort out a situation we need to be an owl, turtle, fox and a teddybear.
We think the worst one to be is the shark because he only thinks about himself so he may not have any friends.

Madison thinkns that it would be good to be an owl. Mollie thinks it’s important to be a fox because it’s important to work out how to solve problems.
Ted:I thought that I should be a combination of them all but the shark.
Euan: I think I should be the fox because he helps to solve problems.
