We think Sir Edmund Hillary wanted to be the first person to achieve this climb! The most difficult aspects of the journey were the weather conditions as it was -17 degrees; battling through snowstorms; it was icy and slippery; he needed lots of equipment and people to support him, the amount of time it took. When I asked the children who would like to do this journey 11 children said they would – 10 boys and 1 girl.

The scariest bit about climbing Everest would be camping on the ice and the snow because you could slip off Everest and die thats why I wouldnt climb Everest.
He did it because he wanted to be the first one to climb it.The most diffcult part was the ice bug because the ice was breacking!

When I went to scotland my grandmaa and I went to a mountain to see a golden Eagle but the train was canceled so we
had to go home but when we got on the road we saw a Golden Egle.

We have been learning about another famous explorer – Charles Darwin. Darwin sailed on the HMS Beagle and visited the Galapagos Islands alongside many others. He found many different species that had adapted to their habitats. His journey took 5 years! He had a hard time, as lots of people didn’t want him to publish what he found.
Molly – I would like to see the world to see how they live in other places.
Jessica – I want to go camping on my own mini adventure.
Ariet – I’d like to see the different types of animals around the world.

We know a lot of history, science and geography because people were brave explorers. Lots of children in Year 2 would love to travel one day and visit other parts of the world.
