Alice enjoyed learning about Noah and the Ark he built out of wood. We tried to name all the types of animals that Noah saved in the Ark
We then looked at different animals to see how many legs they had inc. the giraffe and penguin and a spider!!
Aimee says a giraffe has 4 legs and a penguin has 2, so a giraffe has more legs compared to a penguin. Other pairs Aimee talked about are: hands, eyes, legs, arms, ears… and nostrils, shoes and a door cut in half! We also sang the song about the animals going onto the Ark.
It is tricky to talk about pairs of legs for animals. A giraffe has 4 legs in total, so it has 2 pairs of legs. Penguins have 2 legs which is one pair. I like the pairs of shoes example Aimee.
We have not read a book but we did talk about pairs of legs, hands, eyes, shoes etc We were ok in the begging counting dogs, cats, spiders, flies, ants, dinosaurs legs, arms and eyes. Then we talked about centipede…At the end Borys was so confused that he said that the centipede has got “million thousand” legs 🙂
We have not read a book but we did talk about pairs of legs, arms, eyes, shoes etc. We counted legs of dogs, cats, elephants, ants, spiders. Borys couldn’t really understand that 1pair=2 and was saying that he has not got 1pair of leg but two and I should be old enough to know that what he was saying was right! And when you think it couldn’t go any worse we got to the centipede:) Borys, angrily, said that it has “million thousand legs”.
James enjoyed the Noah’s ark book and made a ready recollection of what happened. We talked about pairs and how we have two of feet, legs, knees, hands, arms, shoulders, eyes and ears. I pointed I have a pair of sons and James said he had a pair of balloons.

Great stuff! Which animal had the most pairs of legs Alice?

Mili said that a giraffe has 4 legs, a penguin has 2 legs , she also said that a spider has 8 legs. The spider has the most legs.
Mili said we have pairs of eyes, eyebrows, feet and two knees.
I had not thought of eyebrows, a great example Mili.

Centipedes do have a lot of legs, it’s a good job they don’t have to buy shoes!

It is tricky, we will be working on it tomorrow in Foundation 2. Sometimes going over a concept a second time can help.

That should read from James!
Super challenge work James, if I had 2 pairs of balloons – how many would I have altogether?
He tells me there are 4! And that they are pink ones 🙂
Super!
