  1. Harvey says:

Harvey enjoys eating broccoli, carrots, peas, sweetcorn/corn on the cob and(sweet) potato when he is at home.He will also eat onions and mushrooms but this is usually when they are ‘hidden’ in food such as cottage pie.As a family, we all enjoy eating these vegetables although myself and Harvey’s daddy will eat a wider range of veg including courgette, asparagus etc which is where the food dudes programme will be excellent in widening Harvey’s range of vegetables that he likes!
So far on the food dude programme he has tried baby corn and mange tout for the first time and liked them both!

    • Mrs Turner says:

I am glad Harvey liked the new vegetables, sometimes it can take a little while to train our taste buds to like a new food. Mange tour and baby corn I my favourites to eat raw or cooked, although when I was little I didn’t like vegetables at all!

  2. Isla B's mum says:

Isla has been to a farm shop today to get some vegetables for tea tonight-we are having brocolli, green beans, carrots and potatoes. We also bought rhubarb which is pink and green. Mommy has made rhubarb crumble for pudding which we will have with custard-yum!

    • Mrs Turner says:

Farm shops have lots of different varieties of fruit and vegetables it is always exciting to go. Your dinner sounds delicious Isla! We had broccoli, green beans and leeks, yum!

Home grown usually does taste so much better (unless the slugs have got to them!) What are you growing this year?

  4. Zachary says:

Zachary is loving food dudes and enjoying trying the fruit and vegetables. He eats lots of different vegetables at home but says that his favourites are potato (baked) and carrots. He said he didn’t enjoy the baby sweetcorn at food dudes and today he tried sweet potato for the first time but gagged and had to spit it out. His current favourite fruit is kiwi but he also loves strawberries and bananas.

    • Mrs Turner says:

He did very well to try the new vegetables, it can take a few tries at tasting a new food to train our taste buds to like it…it took me a really long time to like peas, but now I love them!

  5. Mili says:

This weekend Mili tried crispy lettuce, raspberries and blackberries. They were nice and yummy and scrummy. Her favourite vegetable is cucumber. She even tried tomato slices. Mili likes food dudes – she says she likes eating the food and watching the videos!

  6. Aimee's Mummy says:

Aimee said she tried some “green things that were not green beans” during the food dudes session. She said she liked them! I suggested it could have been mange tout/sugar snap peas but she wasn’t sure! She’s really enjoying trying the fruit and vegetables at school and tells me each day.
She eats a lot of vegetables but goes through phrases of liking something one day and not the next – like all children I guess!

    • Mrs Turner says:

That sounds like an accurate description! It was indeed mange tout and I am glad she liked them I loved to eat them hot or cold. Has Aimee tried mange tout before?

  7. Megan's mummy says:

Megan loves lots of fruit and vegetables, her favourite fruits are blueberries and strawberries. She loves to make a smiley face on her porridge in the morning with them! Her favourite vegetables are cauliflower, broccoli and green beans.
Megan loves spending time in the garden with Grandad, they plant all sorts of fruit and vegetables together, so she is able to watch them grow, pick and then eat them.

    • Mrs Turner says:

How lovely to grow your own! I am crossing my fingers for a better crop this year at my allotment, a few more blueberries would be lovely. I shall ask Megan to tell me all about it next week, maybe she can give me some tips…
