  1. Year 6 says:

In year 6, we really enjoyed the music by Karl Jenkins. Before, when the pictures of WW1 weren’t up, we thought it was a relaxing and reflective piece of music. When linked with the pictures of WW1, it made us feel quite moved and it made many of us feel emotional. We think Karl Jenkins created this piece of music to make people reflect on world war 1 and to remind us all that brave people fought for our country.
We hope that when people listen to this music it will instantly help them to remember about the soldiers who died for our country and who fought.
We think KJ used a dove for the front of the music because doves represent peace and also delivered a message in the bible, we think perhaps KJ want to send out a message about WW1 and peace within his music.
Poppies are an important symbol because it reminds us of the blood shed during the war. It also represents Flanders Fields which we have looked at in poetry because poems have been created about this. We have also made our own poems.

  2. Year 2 says:

Year 2 said that the music made us think of Poppies. We think that Karl Jenkins made the music to help remind us about all the soldiers that died. We think Carl Jenkins chose a dove because it was a look out for the bad people. We all enjoyed the assembly about remembrance.

Year 1 said that the music which they listened to made them feel calm and relaxed. We found out that Karl Jenkins composed this music especially to help us remember the soldiers that fought for our country and who sadly lost their lives. The poppies help us to remember those who died.

  4. Year 3 says:

Toby in year 3 said that the music made him remember about the war. Sabian thought about all of the people that have died in the war. Lily-Rose said that the music made her feel sad because her Great Grandad was in the war and he died. Stanley said that the music made him remember all of the people who have died.

Year three knew that Karl Jenkins chose a dove to go on the front cover because the dove is a symbol of peace.
Music like this is very important because music can help you to reflect on real and important issues.

  5. Year 5 says:

Ariet in Year 5 says the music made her feel calm and it helped her to remember World War 1. Harvey commented that the music helped him to feel sorry for the people who have given their lives within war. In year 5 we have also spoken about what the poppies represent.

  6. James Harrison says:

    Lest We Forget.

  7. Year 4 says:

In year 4 will spoke about what remembrance is and why we remember. Some of the class said they had members of their family who fought in the wars. We observed two minutes silence on Tuesday.

  8. Foundation says:

The children in Foundation have enjoyed buying the poppies over the last week. We have seen lots of different kinds of poppies, we particularly liked the sparkly one that we saw! Perhaps we shall make our own…

  9. Jai S says:

I thought that the music made me feel calm and peaceful and it was a way to remember the men who fought for our country long and hard but sacrificed their lives for us to live like we are today, happy. I think Karl Jenkins chose a diamond white dove to show peace and doves sent out a message to the world. Poppies are a very important symbol as it symbolizes the blood that was shed in the war and we always remember them on 11th of November each year. We should always remember to remember them brave men and they will be in our hearts forever.
