    Puppets
    – People have used puppets to tell stories for thousands of years.
    – A puppet can be made from lots of different things including paper, cardboard, wood, cloth, socks, shadows and
    computer animation.
    – I think puppets are the same all around the world but are used differently in different countries to tell stories, teach beliefs and also just for fun.
    – You can get lots of different types of puppets, such as finger, sock, hand, human-arm, pull string, push, toy, rod, shadow and water.
    – Punch and Judy are famous puppets which are sometimes found at the beach. Mr Punch usually ends up hitting someone with a stick bigger than himself.

My brother really likes the muppets and has most of them sitting on his bed, so I wanted to find out more about the muppets. I discovered that my Mum used to love to watch them when she was 3 years old. The muppets are a group of puppet characters, created by Jim Henson in 1955 when my grandma was only 4. The normal design for a Muppet character is a very wide mouth and large eyes, they are mostly made out of foam then covered with fleece or fur, the characters represent humans, animals or monsters, they are operated using rigs, internal motors, or remote control, with today’s computers they can make them swim, row or ride a bike. The muppets have comics, films, television, games, and soft toys in their range. I have loved finding out about them.

My favourite puppets are the finger puppets.
I have been watched lots of puppets with my father, and we were talking about Muppets because he used to watch when he was a kid in Spain, some of them in Spain have a different name, for example, Ernie and Bert are called Epi and Blas, Kermit frog is called “la rana Gustavo” and Miss Piggy “la cerdita Peggy”.
We know Pinocchio as well, and I know a spanish song about him, that my grandfather taught me.

I asked my daddy “Who are Punch and Judy?” Daddy said they were hand puppets who were in the Punch and Judy show at the seaside. There was also a crocodile and a police man. They used to say ‘That’s the way to do it!’ We watched a Punch and Judy show on YouTube. There was a man in a box who you couldn’t see and he was controlling the hand puppets. but used different voices for each puppet. The puppets were silly and funny and they played tricks on each other, I really enjoyed watching it.
