Ted spent this weekend with his Daddy and together they decided to make a list of everything they did on Saturday. Ted wrote this list down and this formed the itinerary for the day! On Sunday Ted decided to see how many different sorts of lists we could find throughout the day! There were lots! Including a list of hats, ingredients, menu, a list of tables, a list of pool rules and many more. The were also quite a few that we were not sure about! Such as car registrations and road signs.
After eating Sunday lunch Ted and his Daddy tried some weighing experiments. They took a jug of water with ice and some empty cups and began to fill them with different amounts of water and ice. Each time they compared the weight of each of the cups to see which was heaviest. Then Ted went to the Dell with his Daddy to play in the playground. Ted remembered that there was a see-saw there that could be used as a like a set of scales to compare the weight of different things. Together they found different objects around the park, like a log or Daddies bag, and put them on the see-saw to see which weighed more. Then they compared themselves 🙂 fun weekend!
What a super weekend you had! You linked the ideas of a see-saw and a balancing scale, that is brilliant thinking. What do you think the heaviest object in the park was Ted?
Darcy wrote a list of things she wanted in her packed lunch this week…. Ham sandwiches, raspberries and a chocolate coin were among the list. She is also writing a list of everyone in her family.
Wow! I can’t wait to see them, well done Darcy. What did you use to write your list with? I like to use my special sparkly pen when I write my shopping lists.
Darcy will bring her lists in her wallett tomorrow 🙂 Her packed lunch list was on very bright green card in purple felt pen and the family list was done in Mom’s note book… which is now Darcy’s note book with a little blue biro.
Darcy is now working on her list of school friends in alphabetical order… Darcy is remembering the order of the lunch queue as she tells me this is alphabetical…..
Thom wrote a shopping list with the things we buy most often in the supermarket, like bread, milk and cheese. As thom and lotte love baking Thom is always in charge of the weighing scales. We also compare the amount of water in each of the different cups we have at bath time.
Thom also likes to weigh himself on the bathroom scales, with and without clothes to see if there is a difference.
Rosa wrote a shopping list this week on a homemade writing pad that her cousin made at school . She said we will send Daddy to the shops with it but we will send it into school first. Rosa’s Toys are all sorted out into their own drawers to help her find them easily but in her bedroom she has a drawer that she says is her secret drawer and this is where she keeps special toys and photos or pictures she loves. Sophia is not allowed to look in it and likewise Rosa can’t look in Sophia’s. Mummy is allowed to look in either because Mummy tidies up the most normally.
What a good idea, we will make sure you get your list back so that Daddy can go shopping! Rosa you are very helpful at tidy up time at school, just like Mummy is at home 🙂 Are there other lists that you like to write Rosa?

Wow, well done Darcy that would be a very useful list for your teachers 🙂
Khai gave Mummy lots of ideas for her shopping list. We talked about writing shopping lists as Mummy forgets what to buy if she doesn’t have her list!
Well done Khai, my son normally helps me to write my list too. Did you have a go at writing a list too Khai?

They are very good at baking too! We all remember the delicious apple cake that they made 🙂 Which units of measure do you normally use Thom?
