  1. Darcy says:

Darcy and her Nanny and Grandad Dora found they could make stars by putting 1 triangle on top of another. She has also been shape spotting in the house and out and about. She’s found shapes everywhere!!!… Darcy found lots of circles including clocks, the washing machine door, plates, cups, the top and bottom of her torch, windows, wheels & road signs. Plenty of squares and rectangles like doors, windows, mirrors, pictures, boxes & garages, but not so many triangles, they proved trickier! She did find triangle road signs, and triangle markings on the road and speed bumps.

    • Mrs Turner says:

Wow, Darcy you have been really busy finding lots and lots of 2D shapes, well done! Can you find some 3D ones next? The children have been learning about cylinders, cones, spheres and cubes. I wonder how many of those you could find Darcy…

      • Darcy says:

We talked about 3d shapes on our journey to school. Darcy spotted a hanging basket which was a sphere and a few posts which were cylinders. We spoke about her torch which had a circle at the top and bottom and discovered this was actually a cylinder. We are going to look around the house for more 3d shapes tonight.

Last night Darcy found more 3d shapes at bath and bedtime. She noticed the neck of a bottle she was making purple potion in was a cylinder and that the bubbles she was squeezing from the bottle were spheres. She also noticed the loo roll was a cylinder and her night light was a cone.

  2. Ella says:

Ella has worn her jumper with a star on today and we have spoken about the North Star as it is mentioned in a book we read. Have taken photo so will attach if I can work out how!

  3. Ted says:

We made stars from two triangles and by joining up the corners of a hexagon and colouring in the shape inside. We found lots of cylinders in the bathroom, cream, toothpaste, bubble bath and toilet roll. In the recycling we found cuboid shaped packets. Ted noticed the top of one of the lightbulbs was shaped like a cone. He found spheres in his room marbles ,toy balls and pompoms.

  4. The Parry Boys says:

Oliver and Jacob have been spotting shapes around the house they even spotted 3 different 3d shapes in The table decoration, including a cylindrical candle, and beads in the shape of a cube and sphere. They also told their younger cousins about what 3d shapes are and they sang twinkle twinkle together.

    • Mrs Turner says:

Two Teachers, fantastic! Well done to both of you. Now, can you use construction (i.e. Lego) to build something interesting?

  5. Khai says:

Khai spent Saturday in London with Lucy and Daddy. They saw shapes everywhere. Khai liked Big Ben, the clock is a circle, and the tower is a rectangle. He also saw some stars which were Christmas decorations and recognised them because they have points.

  6. Joel says:

Joel is enjoying hunting for shapes whilst out and about and has been singing twinkle twinkle with his little Brother Ellis. He has been practising drawing stars using a triangle template and is noticing 3d shapes such as a cylinder Torch!
