    What does the word challenge mean?
    Minnie – it means it is something tricky
    Na’Taiyah – a challenge is something you have to do
    Rosie – a challenge might have to be some chores or something you might not want to do

    What do you think is your greatest challenge at the moment?
    Kyton – trying to do a flip on the trampoline
    Elsie – ice skating
    Morwenna – trying to go up and down on the monkey bars
    Jake – holding onto the monkey bars
    Esme – learning to do tricky gymnastics moves
    Charlie – learning how to do a backflip

    What do you do if you have a challenge?
    Kyton – try your best but the most important thing is to have fun
    Arthur – preparing for the challenge

    Are challenges worth it? Why?
    Charlie – definitely because you learn how to do new things
    Elsie – they are because if you had no challenges, your life would be very boring
    Morwenna – yes because if you don’t have any challenges you wouldn’t have much to do

    WHY DO YOU NEED TO PUT ON YOUR ARMOUR ?
    Thomas – so that you can bounce off the naughty words

    It means to do something new that might be hard. (Emily)
    Trying something that you haven’t done before and is tricky. (Holly)
    To push yourself to try something you haven’t done before. (Danny)

    What do you think is your greatest challenge at the moment?
    I want to ride my bike without stabilisers. (Aidan)
    To get better on my scooter. (Oscar)
    To improve at reading books. (Jacob R)

    What do you do if you have a challenge?
    You have to keep trying. (Aubrey)
    You have to concentrate. (Danny)
    You have to do good looking. (Darcie)
    You have to do good thinking. (Winnie)
    You have to persevere and keep going. (Conor)

    Are challenges worth it? Why?
    Aidan said challenges are worth doing as you get a sense of achievement.
    Holly said that you feel proud of yourself.
    Danny said it makes you stronger.
    Jacob R said it can help you to learn more.

    Why do you need to put on your armour?
    1. Don’t listen to people who try and put you off like the troll. (Archie)
    2. Believe in yourself (Ted)
    3. You ve got to keep on going and not give up. (Lemell)

    Liliana – You keep pushing yourself even when it is really difficult.
    Flossie – Something new that you are trying for the first time.

    John Rey – Learning a lot of facts about flags.
    Lois – Doing a front flip
    Teddy – Doing a backflip
    Aiden – Swimming over a long distance

    What do you do if you have a challenge?
    Molly B – Keep trying and learn from my mistakes.
    Liliana – Keep on going even if you fail. Try different ways to face the problem.

    Are challenges worth it? Why?
    Zac – You can learn new things.
    Teddy – You will improve your knowledge
    John Rey – Your brain will grow and improve.

    WHY DO YOU NEED TO PUT ON YOUR ARMOUR ?
    Liliana – Just focus on yourself and not what other people are saying.

    Year 1 listened to a piece of music by John Adams called ‘Short Ride in a Fast Machine’
    We watched the orchestra and talked about the conductor and the musicians.
    Year 1 said they all enjoyed the music.
    Emily said it sounded wonderful.
    Elissa said she liked hearing all the different instruments.
    Winnie said she liked the tune.
    Archie said it made him feel happy.
    Aidan said it was fast like a car on the motorway.
    The children told me the names of the instruments they saw. They picked out trumpets, violins, drums, tambourines, flutes, cymbals, clarinets and cellos.

    Rio- you can’t do something but you have a go
    Jay- it’s something hard
    Mylo- something you need to try at

    What can you do when faced with a challenge?
    Dylan- complete it
    Jack- try your hardest
    Sebby- keep trying
    Chandler- try again and again

    We also talked about how we need to ask for help sometimes when faced with a challenge and it wasn’t a sign of failure.

    What’s your greatest challenge?
    Dylan- COVID
    Alfie- move up a stage in swimming
    Reuben – to reach my goal and be a youtuber
    Albie- to beat my big sister at a hockey table game
    Gwen- to run because it’s something I don’t usually enjoy
    Pippa- do my gymnastic competition in front of a big crowd
    Orla- move up a stage in boxing

    Is a challenge worth it?
    Indiya- yes
    Hollie- yes because you are challenging yourself
    Gwen- yes because you grow
    Ava- it makes you feel happy and proud
    Isabelle- you feel you have achieved something

    What does our armour do?
    Jay- challenges reflect of it

    What should we tell ourselves?
    Rio and Evelynn- never give up
    Luella- don’t listen to others, follow your heart
    Eva- I can’t do it, YET!

    We enjoyed listening to this week’s music too.
    Pippa liked it and said it made her feel like she was racing in a car.
    Sebby said it made him feel excited because it reminded him of Mario Cart.
    Luella thought it sounded funny. She smiled throughout it.

    Challenge means tackling something difficult.

    Our greatest challenges are:
    -trying not to get in trouble
    -horse riding
    -trying to talk less in lessons
    -ziplining
    -keep my room tidy
    -skiing
    -maths
    -starting new dance lessons
    -learning to ride a bike
    -being organised
    -thinking about secondary schools
    -waking u early
    -listening
    -not fidgeting

    If we have a challenge we:
    -should be resilient
    -need to have a growth mindset
    -not give up
    -keep trying
    -don’t listen to the troll
    -don’t overthink it

    Challenges are worth it because they can result in something amazing and leave us feeling happy! Challenges make us better!

    We should tell ourselves
    -we can’t do it YET but we will be able to
    -at least I am trying
    -mistakes help you grow
    -progress over perfection
    -don’t stop until you are proud

    MUSIC
    We enjoyed it because it made us feel relaxed and calm. This enabled us to be in the green zone.

    Fin – if something is easy it’s not a challenge. A challenge is something hard,
    Georgia – a challenge is when you try and work something out and you have to persevere.

    Matilda – learning how to canter a horse without falling off.
    Ben – making friends with everyone in the school.

    What do you do if you have a challenge?
    Maddie – don’t give up.
    Max- always keep trying.
    Elliot – think about what it is you need to do and how you need to do it.

    Are challenges worth it? Why?
    Charlie – yes because they can be fun.
    Fin – yes because you could get better at a sport.

    What do you do when you doubt yourself or other people doubt you?
    Noor-ul – don’t listen to negative thoughts
    Georgia – think I can’t do it … yet!
