  1. Matilda says:

I have listened to the Caterpillar poem and this is what I have written:

In the poem there are rhyming words like feet and eat, wore and soar, meet and feet, legs and clogs, everywhere and there, pair and bare, see and flea. The rhyming words sound the same but are spelt differently. I have drawn the butterfly and to describe it I have written ‘beautiful, bright butterfly’ ‘Amazing and colourful’ and I have drawn the stick insect and written ‘Clever stick insects blend in with their habitats’ ‘Skinny and camouflage’.

  2. Libby says:

We watched the poem and found it great. The Caterpillar was very kind to help all the other mini beasts

  3. Mrs Mitchell says:

So pleased you liked the poem girls! Well done for spotting the rhyming words Matilda. Keep them safe as next week we are going to write a rhyming poem.
Yes Libby the caterpillar is kind to the other creatures.

  4. Matilda says:

Matilda also completed the diamond heist this morning and found out that the thief is Daniel Chalmers

  5. Elsie Rose says:

I listened to the poem and I have noticed 15 rhyming words. Not all have similar spelling but they sound the same for example
    Air and everywhere
    Bare and pair

But there are some rhyming words that are similar spelling for example
    logs and clogs
    jumps and pumps

  6. JENSON ALLEN says:

The caterpillar was very kind as he was sharing his shoes. He ate all day and he walked a long way. The spider was dangling above and the caterpillar said “my shoes you would love”. Spider said “they will keep my feet as warm as toast”and caterpillar said “I think they are the ones I will miss most”.
    JENSON ALLEN

  7. Mrs Mitchell says:

Well done Jenson! He was very kind for sharing his shoes. Did you spot the rhyming words in the poem?

  8. Jenson Allen says:

Jenson wrote the following into his book whilst watching the video and then typed the responses into the blog; above and love, day and way, toast and most.

  9. Ben Aherne says:

The caterpillar was very nice to his new friends by giving them his shoes. I loved the poem and spotted a few rhyming words.

I am now going to look at which minibeasts I can find in the garden.

  10. William Harris says:

Here are some of the rhyming words I found
    me and agree
    all and small
    shell and well
    hooray and stay
    home and roam
    leaf and relief
    most and toast
    above and love
    logs and clogs
    jumps and pumps

I think that the spellings are sometimes different and sometimes the same to make the sound.

I think the caterpillar was nice and kind because he gave away his shoes.

  11. Georgia coates says:

I have listened to the caterpillar poem and this is what.I have written:
In the poem there are rhyming words like feet and eat, feet and meet, wore and sore, jump and pumps, logs and clogs, air and everywhere
The words spell the same but are spelt
Words to describe the mini beasts
caterpillar is green and long. The spider is big brown and hairy. The wood log has white strips across his back. The grass hopper is green and
has skinny legs. The beetle has a smooth back.
I’ve also drawn some mini beasts in my folder.

Feet and eat, sore and wore, feet and meet, logs and clogs, jig an twig, above and love, toast and most, jumps and pumps, there and everywhere, shell and well, see and tree, pair and bare, flea and see, my and butterfly.
Some of the spellings of the rhyming words are the same and some are different.

  17. Mrs Mitchell says:

    Hi everyone,

I am really impressed with all of the rhyming words that you have found. Keep them safe as next week I am going to ask you to write your own poem – exciting! April is national poetry month so I thought we would celebrate it!

How have you got on with the other work that I’ve set for this week? Has anyone watched the clips about habitats yet and had a go at the quizzes?

Don’t forget to enjoy the sunshine this week.

Happy home learning everyone. Miss you all so it’s great to see your comments and that you are having a go at the learning tasks set. Well done.

  18. Ben B says:

I really enjoyed learning about habitats. I have made a poster about woodlands, deserts and Savvana. I would choose to live in the woodland habitat because it’s green and there are no lions there trying to eat me!!!

  19. Matilda says:

This morning we have done the Phse activity. Here is Matilda’s recipe for a happy home:

    1. First of all add a ball of kindness, a pinch of gifts and a cup of laughter.
    2. Next crack open the cuddles and add a jug of watching movies and mix together.
    3. Whisk in the fun and playing to make the mixture into a dough.
    4. Roll out the dough and knead in the colouring and games.
    5. Finally add a huge sprinkle of time together, love and kisses and bake it in the oven for 10 minutes. Now you will have a happy home.

  20. Mrs Mitchell says:

I love that recipe Matilda! A really thoughtful response to the task. Well done.

  21. alexander says:

I really miss my friends and school and I miss Mrs Mitchell. I will hopefully see you in a couple of months.

I miss you all too! It is so lovely though that you are sending photos in so that I can see all of the amazing things that you are doing whilst you have to learn from home.

  22. Edward Fell says:

I really enjoyed the video, my favourite part was when he wove a chrysalis at the end. I found lots of rhyming words, shell & well, give &live, above & love, toast and most etc. They all end with the same spelling. I am drawing a picture of a spider.

  23. Mrs Mitchell says:

A fabulous week of learning year 2! Really impressed with what you have achieved.

Don’t forget to look for the new blog on Monday with next week’s learning. However, I’ve put a photos blog up so that you can see what your friends have been up to this week. Don’t forget to add a comment.

    Have a lovely weekend.

  24. s14acreasey says:

I watched the caterpillar poem and wrote a list of all the rhyming words. there were lots, just like his shoes!

We went on a walk yesterday in the fields opposite the cricket club where there were lots of wild flowers like dandelions and daisies. although we didn’t find any caterpillars there were lots of butterflies.

I enjoyed blowing the ‘puffballs’ and mummy told me all about seed distribution.

  25. s14RMitchell says:

Fantastic Reuben. How lovely that you were able to go for a walk in the fields with your mummy. Well done for looking for minibeasts!
