Year 1 had lots of thoughts about relationships. Poppy said she had spoken to all her friends at school. Elsie-Rai said she had spoken to Winnie. Phoebe said she had spoken to her sister Saffy. Ellis said he had talked to his brother Charlie. Edward said he had talked to his dog Lacey on his way to school.
Libby said she had come to school with her brother Lee and her Mum. Archie had come with his Mum and Gracie his sister.
The children found it hard to choose and say one best friend and we all agreed that it is good to have lots of friends as then you are not lonely (Edward told us this!)
Year 1 came up with these words for what makes a good friendship and a good relationship. Someone who you can trust, someone you can count on, someone who smiles and shares, someone who cares and is helpful.
We all think that good relationships are important as they make people happy!!
Year 5:
Who have you already related with today?
Year 5 have many different relationships like friends, siblings, parents, grandparents, pets and other family members.
Why are good relationships so important?
Because friends help you and you would be lonely without them. It is good to have more than 1 friendship.
Why should we be grateful for all these relationships?
Because it allows us to have people to talk to, to be happy, to enjoy experiences with others and share.
What makes a good relationship and a good friendship?
– Kindness
– Showing respect
– Being friendly and helpful
– Smiling
– Being caring towards them
– Saying nice things to them and paying them compliments
– Being honest with people
In Foundation we talked alot about what a relationship is and how we can be a good friend. Its a difficult concept for the little ones to understand but we talked about bad and good relationships we can have and why its very important to be a good friend so that we can build on our relationships at school and at home.
We like talking about our friends in Year 3 and the things we enjoy doing with our friends. Sometimes friendship is hard but when you look after your friends they will look after you. We talked about relationships in Jigsaw this week and who in our lives is important to us.
In English this week we have been looking at the story by Anthony Browne called ‘GORILLA’. In the story Hannah, the little girl, feels like her dad doesn’t listen to her. We talked about Hannah and what she could do to have a better realtionship with her dad. We really like this story and could relate to the characters well. Sometimes we feel our mums and dads don’t really listen to us and we just want to be listened to!
We are continuing to work on our relationships in Year 3!
In Year 4 we thought about relationships and all the people in our lives that we have relationships with.
Some children thought about why relationships are so important:
Isla – If we didn’t have relationships then we would be lonely
Jake – If we didn’t have relationships with anybody you might not have as much to do
Elodie – If we didn’t have relationships we would feel sad
Ben – We should be grateful because some people don’t have anyone to turn to if there is a problem
Borys – We should be grateful because people are there to help us out if we need it
Daniel – Good relationships are about being nice to each other and sharing
Josh – Being kind to each other makes relationships good
Harvey – When friend are there for you, you know that the relationship is strong
