This little lizard sat on the wall,
having fun.
This little lizard under a rock
out of the sun.
This lizard ate a gnat or two.
This lizard changed colours
from red to blue.
This little lizard dashed fast
off the wall
because he heard
the hawk’s call.
The author of the piano is Joy Acey.
I like this poem because it is about lizards.

My dog’s name is “Cat”
and my cat’s name is “Dog.”
My frog’s name is “Mouse”
and my mouse is called “Frog.”
My bird’s name is “Fish”
and my fish is called “Bird.”
I know that you probably
think that’s absurd.
It’s just a tradition
my family has had.
My dad’s name is “Mom”
and my mom’s name is “Dad.”

Ellie liked how silly the poem is.
Black and white
Thick and furry
Fast as the wind
Always in a hurry
Couple of spots
Rub my ears
Always comes when his name he hears
Loves his ball; it’s his favorite thing
What’s most fun for him? Everything!
Great big tongue that licks my face
Has a crate, his very own space
Big brown eyes like moon pies
He’s my friend till the very end!
My Turtle
This is my turtle.
He lives in a shell.
And he likes his home very well.
He pokes his head out
when he wants to eat
And pulls it back
When he wants to sleep!
Black & white
Thick & furry
Fast as the wind
Couple of spots
Rub my ears
Always comes when his name he hears
Loves his ball it’s his favourite thing
What’s most fun for him? Everything!
Great big tongue that licks my face
Has a crate his very own space
Big brown eyes like moon pies
He’s my friend till the very end
The truth I do not stretch
When I state thst the dog is full of love
I’ve also found, by actual test
A wet dog is the longest
Oliver likes it because he likes dogs
Other cats can climb trees,
And stand high on branch catching the breeze,
But I make the wind rush,
So fast that the ground I barely brush,
Camouflaged in black spots,
I hide in the bush far from their shots,
I can’t roar but I growl,
I chirp, I stutter, I purr and yowl,
Then I run like a train,
And back to my home; safety again.
Where the acorn tumbles down,
Where the ash tree sheds its berry,
With your fur so soft and brown,
With your eye so round and merry,
Scarcely moving the long grass,
Fieldmouse, I can see you pass.
Little thing, in what dark den,
Lie you all the winter sleeping?
Till warm weather comes again,
Then once more I see you peeping
Round about the tall tree roots,
Nibbling at their fallen fruits.
Fieldmouse, fieldmouse, do not go,
Where the farmer stacks his treasure,
Find the nut that falls below,
Eat the acorn at your pleasure,
But you must not steal the grain
He has stacked with so much pain.
Make your hole where mosses spring,
Underneath the tall oak’s shadow,
Pretty, quiet harmless thing,
Play about the sunny meadow.
Keep away from corn and house,
None will harm you, little mouse.

I like the monkey poem by Jacqueline jules because it reminds me of me and my friends.
If I were a monkey I’d swing from the trees
No one would say
Settle down please
If I were a monkey I’d jump all day long
No one would say
Jumping is wrong
If I were a monkey I’d chatter and chatter
No one would say
What is the matter?
If I were a monkey I’d stand on one hand
Grab with my tail
Do you understand?
It’s hard to be quiet
To sit still and smile
For more than a very
Very short while
The worm that wouldn’t wiggle
By Steve Attewell
Although I am worm,
I never used to wiggle
Cos, when my tummy rubbed the floor,
it always made me giggle.
I couldn’t make it half a yard,
Before I had to stop,
Cos I was laughing very hard,
Exhausted I would flop.
I’d lay down on the comfy grass,
Beneath a shady flower,
And recover from my giggle fit,
It took me half an hour.
My mum was quite unhappy,
My friends they used to mock,
Until I had a jumper made,
Well ok more a sock.
Now when I wear my wiggle sock,
And slide about the floor,
I do not get a tickle,
on my tummy anymore.
I can wiggle to the shops and back,
My friends no longer scoff,
And when I want to giggle,
I just take my jumper off.

An Ode to A Tortoise
by Scott Mendenhall
The tortoise is a noble beast
So measured is his stride
When trouble knocks inside his door
He simply goes inside.
What secrets can we learn from him?
What wisdom does he hold?
Eat leafy greens, and take your time,
And you’ll get very old!
I chose it because my favourite animal is a tortoise.
