We discussed what we think the word ‘bravery’ means. Year 6 came up with lots of really thought provoking ideas, including the idea that bravery is standing up for what you believe in, when others might disagree with you and possibly challenge your beliefs. We also discussed the idea that bravery is facing your fears, whatever those fears might be.
We think ‘bravery’ means having the confidence to face your fears no matter how hard you think the task is going to be. It’s taking yourself out of your comfort zone and achieving something amazing through the determination in the bravery. We spoke about how important it is to be encouraging of others because what one person might find easy, another may need courage and a lot of support to achieve.
Bravery helps us to do things that we feel worried about. At Forest School we were brave when we held a giant spider. Some of us are scared of dogs. When we go to the park we try to be extra brave.
