When crossing the road wait on the pavement and wait for the light of the man to turn green to walk but before
that look left and right to make sure no people are still driving because some people go past red lights and
also funeral cars and police, ambulances can go past red lights.

If you are stuck in your bedroom and there is a fire cover the edges of the door with bedding so the smoke won’t get into your room then after that call 999 if you have a phone if you don’t shout fire out of the window.
To check if you can get out put the back of your hand on the door if it is cool then feel the handle if the handle is cool then open the door a tiny little bit if there is no fire you are safe to evacuate the building , get out quickly and don’t go back for anything.

  8. SBucknall says:

I learnt that if you need to be home in 10 mins or you will be grounded, then do not take the short cut through the alley way at night or you might get hurt and you do not know what is down there. It is best to be home late then never…:(

I learnt a lot of things like stand behind the yellow line when a train comes and if you see a person drowning in a canal NEVER try to reach them with a twig or branch because it will pull you in.

  13. Lily says:

If you are in a bedroom and there is a fire outside, use the back of your hand and touch the door and the handle. If it is hot, the fire is quite big. If you are not sure, open the door slightly and close quickly. Poisinous gas from the fire could come into your room. If you can’t escape shout ”FIRE” out of the window or really loud. Make sure when crossing the road, the light is red, and the man is green. We learnt about how smoking and alcohol can kill. Safe Side was really fun and so realistic. I learnt so much.

    3 top tipes
-if you get dog muck on your hands you must wash it off , if you don’t and wipe it in your eye you could lose your sight.
-if you have a fire in your house don’t go into the room and get as low as possible.
-a small portion of wine could kill a 2 year old – make sure all drinks are kept out of reack.

  22. Harry J says:

I really enjoyed the Safeside trip I learnt that if your frienf has a fire and you are there you must not go in and call the fire brigade. If there is a fire you must leave your pets becaues the firemen will risk there lives for them and they would rather be saving one thing not two.If a 2 year old has half a glass of wine that could kill them so make sure you keep them out of reach.

  23. miriam says:

If there is a fire and your trapped in your room put the back of your hand against the door and if it is hot that means there’s a fire. Don’t leave tea towels on the back of the oven when it is on and your not in the room, because it can burn and can set on fire. Don’t leave candles on electronic devices, it can set it on fire and can burn the house down.

  24. 14cwatts says:

The fire scared me where the room burnt down in 3 minutes It is not real . Do not disturb the police / ambulance/ fire brigade unless it is an emergency.
Safe side is a good place to learn. You learn it is an amazing place to be. On a bus you shold sit in a safe place. The bottom is safer than the top.
