  1. Oliver Reynolds says:

Ollie’s favourite Dinosaur is a Pterodactyl. The names comes from the Greek meaning “winged finger”. Their wings grew from their fourth finger which was as long as their tails! They had long beaks with about 90 small, very sharp teeth. When not flying, they walked on all four feet.
The dinosaurs above we can name are: Stegosaurus, Diplodocus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Pterodactyl and possibly an ankylosaurus?
While we were on holiday in the half term Oliver chose a non fiction book to buy called Dinosaurs written by the Usbourne group. (A spotter’s guide) We will be reading it this week. Ollie would be happy to bring this in to school to show the other children.

Jacob said “My favourite dinosaur is a velociraptor, it lived in the late Cretaceous Period.” We found out that a Velociraptor was 6 feet long. Archelogists have recently discovered that Velociraptor’s had feathers rather than scales.

We have lots of fact books about dinosaurs and dinosaur toys like digs and models. Our favourite dinosaur book is called the Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher, it is a story book.

Things we learnt about the t-Rex
    -It walks on 2 legs
-Tyrannosaurus Rex means the Lizard King
-I think that it was called a Lizard king because it was so big it ruled the land like a King
-It was about 12-16ft tall (the height of a 2 story building)
    -It was carnivore (meat Eater)
-It was said that because it was a meat eater, it had sharp teeth.
-It was one of the most fiercest dinosaurs of all time.
-Scientists believe that it could eat up to 230 kilograms of meat in one bite!
-One of the last dinosaurs to appear on the planet.
-It lived in North America and Asia.
-Some of the t-Rex prey were…. the Stegasaurus, the Triceratops, the Iguanodon and lots more.
-It weighed around 15 tons (about the size of 7 1/2 elephants!)
-About a dozen (12) t-Rex skeletons have been found.
-It had about 200 bones (about the same amount as humans)
    -It lived about 65-85 millions
-A t-Rex was believed to be as big as a house!
-It’s teeth were bigger than a baby.
-The t-Rex Brain was bigger than a Human brain.
-There are lots of theories about how the dinosaurs died out such as….
an asteroid hit earth and destroyed it.
There was a massive wipe-out which took out all of the animals and plants living on the Earth

  4. Georgia Moore says:

Georgia likes the Diplodocus. It has a long neck to reach the leaves high up in the trees and also vegetation and water on the ground.

The diplodocus is as big as three London Buses!!!

  5. Ava Moore says:

Ava found out the Tyrannosaurous, also known as the T. rex, is the biggest meat eating dinosaur.

It’s big strong legs enable it to run fast and catch other dinosaurs.

One tooth can be up to 30cm big!!

  6. Isla Green says:

My chosen dinosaur is an Apatosaurus.

    The Apatosaurus…

lived in North America during the late Jurassic period

grew up to 21 meters long and 4.5 meters tall at the hip

    weighed up to 23 tons

and had a very long neck and tail in proportion to its body.

  7. Charlie says:

My favourite dinosaur is a Tyrannosaurus Rex also known as a T-Rex.

    – Tyrannosaurus Rex had powerful back legs that let it hunt prey over short distances at up to 20mph (32 kph). They would have charged out of the undergrowth to surprise their prey – and their flexible neck helped them adjust the angle of attack.

    – When Tyrannosaurus rex hit around the age of 14 its body size would increase rapidly, putting on around 600kg (1300lb) a year over the next 4 years.

-Tyrannosaurus rex had small arms that were extremely powerful and featured two clawed fingers.

-Tyrannosaurus rex lived in the late Cretaceous Period, around 66 million years ago.

The dinosaurs in the picture are:
    Tyrannosaurus Rex
    Brontosaurus
    Pterodactyl
    Stegosaurus
    Diplodocus
    Apatosaurus

  8. Milly says:

Milly’s favourite dinosaurs is the pterodatylus
Pterodatylus was a kind of Pterosaur.
Pterosaurs are flying reptiles; Pterodatylus wasn’t a dinosaur.
Pterodactylus lived around 150.8–148.5 million years ago, during the late Jurassic Period.
Pterodactylus was a relatively small pterosaur with a wingspan of just over 1 metre (3.28 ft.)

T Rex had a large brain but very small arms!

T Rex was one of the biggest meat eaters.

They lived in Australia, a T Rex hip bone was found in a cave in Victoria.
