Oliver watched a video about bears on you tube and he saw that they was eating fish and plants and lived in a cave. Plus most bears hibernate during the winter.
We have learnt bears have 2 layers of fur 1 to keep warm next to skin and 1 longer to keep water off the short hair. Polar bears are the biggest Bears. They eat fish, grass & flies.
Bears do not live in the UK.
Bears have an amazing appetite and can consume 10% of their body weight in 1 hrs.

MAX found out about the Sun bear which lives in the tropics. It is one of the smallest bears. It has shiny black fur with an orange horseshoe shape under its chin. It is also called honey bear or Malayan bear. It eats lizards, birds, rats, fruit and honey. It has sharpe claws and a long tongue. it has strong legs so it can run away from tigers.
Polar bear lives in the Arctic, Alaska, Canada, Russia, Greenland and Norway. It is the largest land animal, males are 10 feet tall and females are seven feet tall. Their fur looks white but it is really hollow and the white is the reflection of the snow and ice. They live for 25 years. Their skin is black. they can swim 100 miles. they like to eat seals. In winter the mummy bear digs a cave to have her cubs in they come out in spring.
Max likes a book called The Friendly Bear which his Mummy had when she was 4.
Phoebe found out that bears are mammals, they hibernate in the winter, there are lots of different types of bear, they have great hearing, eyesight and smelling senses and a baby bear is called a cub.
We are currently reading Dear Polar Bear which has lots of different types of bear in.
Sebastian watched the story Can’t you sleep Little Bear and he said he is the same as he doesn’t like sleeping in the dark.
Sebastian wanted to learn about the Red Panda Bear he saw at Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park, he has learnt that they need to drink water and eat Bamboo, Berries, Seeds, Flowers, Bugs, small birds & small rodents to survive.
Luke has been looking at bears on the internet, we looked at polar bears, brown bears & the panda. Luke’s favourite was the panda & polar bear. We found out that pandas lived in china & they like to eat bamboo & that Polar bears live in the arctic & have very fluffy white fur to keep them warm from the cold, they mainly eat seals & fish.
Matilda has learnt lots about bears, her favourite facts are:

The polar bear is the biggest bear in the world
The honey bear is the smallest bear in the world
Polar bears eat seals and walruses
Grizzly bears eat salmon
