Sebastian learnt about the rules when eating with chopsticks and there are quite a few to remember!
We went out to a restaurant and ate with chopsticks which Sebastian loved. He has put a pair of children’s chopsticks in his wallet to show his classmates & we have emailed a photograph of him eating with them to the school office.
Matilda has really enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year for the challenge this week. We watched a programme on the television where a little girl was celebrating Chinese New Year with her family. They had a special dinner with 9 different dishes, she wore a beautiful red dress and did some Chinese dancing. They then went to the Chinese New Year parade where there were giant puppets of different animals dancing through the streets. Matilda liked the unicorn and the dragon the best. We also talked about chopsticks and how in China they use them to eat with. We eat a lot of sushi for lunch and we talked about how chopsticks can be used to eat it, next time we have sushi we are going to have a try with the chopsticks! Matilda has drawn a picture of a Chinese dragon breathing fire, and another picture of us all eating sushi and some chopsticks!
Elliot has enjoyed eating his dinner with chop sticks this weekend! We also looked at where China is on a map. Elliot remembered that we visited the Chinese Lantern Festival at the Botanical Gardens before Christmas and we watched a video on you tube about why the Chinese release lots of red lanterns during Chinese New Year. We have emailed a few photos to the school office
We have watched a video about chinese new year and made model dragons. Libby was born in year of the snake and Lee the year of the Pig. We also looked up the Chinese years our mom & dad were born.
Mum was born the year of the Pig which Livy found funny! Livy is born the year of the Rabbit. We watched a video and Livy liked them eating with chopsticks.
We had watched lots of videos of people eating with chop sticks, Ellie was born in the year of the Dragon, we’ve have drawn a picture of a dragon breathing fire.
Phoebe learnt that China is in the East. The colour red is very lucky in China. Phoebe was born in the year of the Dragon.
Good work Phoebe, can you find out which year Mum and Dad were born in?
