We enjoyed having Rev. Vicky with us today in assembly. She told us all about the BIBLE! It was written so long ago and is in every country in the world.
Some of our favourite bible stories in Year 2 are Daniel in the lions Den, Adam and Eve, Noah and the Ark, stories about Jesus and also stories that Jesus told. The bible is read by Christians and by other people too.
14 people in Year 2 have said they will try and make something about their favourite bible story to enter the competition!
Year 1 guessed that the riddle was The Bible. They said that the Bible was special to Christians. Jacob’s favourite Bible story is ‘Jonah and the Whale.’ Alice likes the story about ‘The First Christmas.’ Zeb said his favourite was ‘Noah’s Ark.’ Jacob also remembered the story of ‘David and Goliath.’ James recalled the story of ‘The Good Samaritan.’
Year 1 are excited about the competition and lots of children said they were going to enter.
We looked at the calligraphy powerpoint and the children were interested in finding out about what their writing told us about their personalities.
Year 4 enjoyed Rev. Vicky’s assembly this morning and all remembered that the answer to the riddle was the Bible. The Bible is God’s word and is special to Christians because it guides them through the ups and downs of life. Year 4 were also eager to tell me that the Bible is special because it is all of these things – a torch, a sword, a mirror, a treasure chest, a radio, a camera, food and drink.
Tianna-Mae’s favourite Bible story is the Nativity. Daisy’s loves the Easter story – when Jesus rose to life. Jacob enjoys the story of David & Goliath. Ethan enjoys hearing about different battles in the Bible and Daniel likes Noah’s Ark.
Not many in Year 4 had heard of calligraphy or graphology before and were interested to hear all about it, however, they were very sure of their own belief that handwriting can’t give away any clues about your personality.
We enjoyed the assembly with Reverend Vicky. She told us a riddle and we worked out it was about the Holy Bible. Some children were asked to go to the front and they had to show different props which were related to the bible.
For example, Naomi had a guide book and this taught us how the bible guides us through life.
Some of us are excited about the competition and we have to create something which shows our favourite story from the bible. We all would love to win a trip to Cadbury World!
We know that calligraphy is a very artistic style of writing which is beautiful to look at. We have tried this in class when we wrote our Tudor poems.
Graphology is the study of handwriting and people who are trained to do this must be very clever as we think some of our writing in Year 5 is very similar.
Eugene A Cernan was the last man to walk on the moon as part of the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.
We really hope one of the Year 5s win the competition!
The answer to the riddle was a bible. Bibles can be special to people because they are religious. I don’t have a favourite story in the bible but I want to find one.
The answer to the riddle was the holy bible.

The children in Foundation were fascinated by the calligraphy examples that they saw. The number of different tools that can be used was also of great interest, especially to Mrs Turner! The children in Foundation 2 are working very hard to learn how to write their letters in the pre-cursive style and all of the teachers are very proud of their super attitudes towards it. We are sure that when the children are a little bit more confident with their letter formation they will enjoy exploring calligraphy too. We are also looking forward to learning about what our handwriting says about us when we are older.
Reverent Vicky said that the answer to the riddle was the holy bible. We looked at objects that Christians and people who believe in god thought that a holy bible has such as: a torch to guide the way; a sword as a weapon. The holy bible can be special to Christians because it is all about God and what good deeds he did. My favourite stories are
-Noah’s Ark
-Jonah and the whale.
