We learned that there are lots of different nativity scenes – some big and some small but they all share the same message. The message is God sends his love to us all at Christmas time. Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem to be counted in the census and they had to go back to the town where they were born.
Lots of people have to move in their lives because of work, family commitments, money reasons and because they choose to. sometimes this move may be close to home or further afield or even abroad in some cases. It is often a big upheaval for people and they need to adjust to their new surroundings. We are lucky that we can communicate easily with family that love us.
At Christmas time year one said that we need to think about others before ourselves.
I learnt that there are different sorts of Nativity.
And my favourite was probably the people who actually play it.
I think they like to live in different countries because they can communicate with more people easily and maybe that is cause of there accent.
At Christmas time we need to spend more time with are family and not just on our phones, iPad’s all the time.
We learnt about Rev Vickie’s collection of Nativity figures and how the bigger ones represent God’s great plan for Jesus. The little ones represent how God loves us all, every one of us. We have been learning about the Nativity story in RE this half term and also Christingle.
Mary and Joseph migrated from Egypt because King Herod wanted to kill Jesus. King Herod didn’t like the idea of someone being more powerful than him.
People live in different countries for many reasons: War, love, for a better life, to explore.
We should think about how grateful we are to live in our country and not in a country filled with war and hate. We will thik about people in lots of different countries this Christmas.

Stanley, Ines and Charlotte discussed that: It isn’t just the big gestures that count at Christmas time it is also the little things we can do to help others that make a difference in people’s lives.
Oliver gave us a great quote “Small things make a big difference.”
About the Nativity and migration.
Edward mentioned that the Nativity story is one of the oldest stories we know of and it can be interpreted in many different ways.
Charlotte talked about it being a story of “new beginnings and staring afresh.”
Charlie suggested that you might migrate so that you can live in a different country or experience another culture.
Toby thought this could also be if we had a new job or house.
The moved to Egypt because Jesus was in trouble. I love Christmas. The nativity of Jesus is very important. The most important thing about Christmas is your family and Jesus , not presents and not Christmas dinner.
