The assembly was about Jesus praying.
Jesus was with his friends and he had a picnic.
They sat round the table and had some bread and wine.
We would invite everybody from Foundation because we are all friends.
We learnt that:
– bread represents Jesus’s body and the wine represents his blood.
– he knew he was going to die on the cross.
– we learnt that he had a last supper with his friends before he died.
If we were to have a last supper with our friends we would choose:
– cakes
– pizza
– big pile of onion rings
– steak
– ice cream
– nan bread and sausages
– tuna
Year 3 discussed that Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples because this was his last supper before he died. This special meal would remind the disciples of Jesus, as the wine represented his blood and the bread represented his body. For a special meal the children would like to eat pizzas, spaghetti bolognaise, chicken pasta for their main meals. For dessert, Year 3 would like to eat icecream and ice lollies but a special favourite was chocolate!
Year 1 enjoyed the story of The Last Supper. Jesus shared bread and wine. He said that the bread was his body and the wine was his blood and that he wanted his disciples to remember him.
If we were having a special meal with our friends this is what we would choose:
Ross, Lewis, Mili and Daniel – pizza and chips,
Joe -MacDonalds,
Harvey – Chicken pie,
Jake – Ham sandwiches,
Lotte – Sausages and chips,
Isla – Pasta,
Zachary – Jacket potato with ham.
We are getting ready for Easter by buying Easter eggs, eating hot cross buns and decorating our homes with Spring flowers.
In Year 2 we talked about the Passover supper and how this meal is special. We have looked at the Passover meal that Jewish people celebrate. They use a Seder plate with a lamb bone, bitter herbs, parsley, salt water, charoseth and a roasted egg. They eat this meal with flat bread and wine. It reminds them of when they were saved from Egypt. We have remembered our RE lesson really well!!
Easter is a time to say thank you for Jesus and what he did for us. Many thousands of people will remember him this Easter.
Lots of families in Year 2 celebrate by going to church on Easter sunday, sharing special meals and having a chocolate treat.
Easter is about new life!
I learnt that the wine represents his blood and the bread represents his skin, he had a last supper with his friends to tell them that it was going to be his last supper with them. I would have some steak or pizza if I was going to have my last supper with my friends. I will get Easter ready by buying are food and having a family dinner ready for us to cook and eat.
