  1. Haydn says:

I found out the reason why the fire started was because they where cooking bread and they forgot about it and it burnt and started a fire. The fire took hold because the houses where so close together and made of wood.
I found out the Samuel Pepys, he kept a diary from 1660 to 1669. He recorded in his diary facts about himself, his wife, his home and about London.
Samuel Pepys buried his cheese and wine so it did not burn, I would choose to save the X-box, the Age of Ultron game, photos of Grandma and my Avengers.

  2. Alex Reedman says:

Alex said he would have been scared if he had been in London at the time of the fire, because his whole house may have been burned down. Samuel Pepys wrote a secret diary, about things he didn’t want other people to know. Alex said if there was a fire he would like to save all his family and all his toys and books and the chocolate tin.

  3. Isla says:

I learned that lots of houses got burned down and six (!) people died. Samuel wrote some of his diary in code so people
Wouldn’t be able to read some of it.

If I had been there I would have described the fire as very dangerous, scary and hot.

If I was to hide anything to save it from a fire it would be my jewellery and toys.

  4. Borys says:

I have learnt that the Great Fire Of London happened before we were born. If I had been a witness I would have taken a big bucket full of water and try to put out the fire. I think I would have been very scared.

I found out the fire started in a bakery and lasted for days. Lots of houses were burnt down and people used buckets of water to try to put out the fire as they did not have fire engines back then. Mr Pepys wrote a secret diary so he could remember things that happened to him in his life. If I was an eyewitness I would have felt sad and scared because fires are dangerous. I would not have liked my house to be blown up to stop the fire because houses in the olden days looked beautiful. If I had to save things from a fire I would save my orange juice, a teddy bear and also my cheese! Cheese is very expensive!

  7. Jake says:

The great fire of London started in the bakery in Pudding Lane. The wind spread the fire and lots of houses were destroyed. The city had to be rebuilt. If Jake had been an eyewitness he said it would have been a massive fire everywhere and he would have felt sad. Jake said he would have saved every single toy!

We think that Samuel Pepys wrote a diary so others could learn about what happened.

I found out it was a really really bad fire that started in a bakery in Pudding Lane in 1666. Samuel Pepys wrote a diary to make sure that houses were built so fires couldn’t spread next time. If I had seen it I would say it was really bad, 6 people died and I would have felt frightened. I would have saved my cats, my fish and my xbox. Oh and mummy and daddy (an afterthought clearly!!).

A baker on Pudding Lane fell asleep and left the oven on a long time ago. The wind blew and it spread the fire. The houses were made of wood so they caught fire. The fire started in 1666. 6 people died because they breathed in smoke or a church collapsed on them. One of the people who died was the maid working in the bakery. St Pauls cathedral was burned down on the 4th September. The whole of London had to be rebuilt, and Christopher Wren planned a new city of London.
