  1. Daniel Hillidge says:

We found this one which Daniel liked!

    Under my umbrella
I like to feel the drops
    Of rain- it’s happy tapping
    Of pitter-patter plops

    Under my umbrella
I like to feel a dash
Of water as it hits the ground
    And rises with a splash

    Under my umbrella
I like to stay all dry
    And enjoy the rainy weather
As it falls down from the sky.

  2. Zachary says:

    Puddles

    Big puddles, small puddles
    Puddles in the lane
    Puddles on the footpath
    Puddles near the drain

    Shiny puddles, muddy puddles
    Puddles that grow
    Winter puddles, icy puddles
    Puddles of snow

    Spring puddles, summer puddles
    Puddles on the grass
    Squashy puddles, sploshy puddles
    Puddles to splash!

  3. Ross Little says:

    Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
    Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
    We’ll weather the weather
    Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not.

I like to watch the way the wind
    can spin a weather vane.
I like to wear my big blue boots
to splash with in the rain.
I like to ride my bright red sled
    on cold snowy days.
I like to feel the sun’s warm rays
when I wade in the ocean waves.
    Wind, rain, snow, and sun
    Every kind of weather
    is wonderful and fun!

  4. Aimee says:

    A rainbow of colours,
    In the light, after rain.
    There are seven of them,
And, each one has a name.

    Red is the first
    Rainbow colour in the sky.
    Orange is next
    Like pumpkin pie.

    Yellow is the third,
    Lemons come to mind.
    Colour four is green,
Think of grassy hills to climb

    Blue is colour five,
Like the water in a lake
    The sixth is indigo
Blue-gray blends that you can make.

    Violet is the colour
    Of the last rainbow band.
    Violet is flowery;
Like the pedals in your hand.

So, wave your arms above you
    Cast your colours high
And, try to make a rainbow
    Across a cloudy sky.

  5. Jake says:

If you go out when it’s snowing
And look up to the sky
You’ll feel lots of icy kisses
    As the snowflakes flutter by

  6. Isla says:

We looked for a poem about sunshine as everyone loves the sun and we haven’t seen much of it recently! This has also been turned into a song (maybe the teachers can sing it to the class? ;-):

    You are my sunshine,
    my only sunshine
    You make me happy
    when skies are grey
    You never know,
    dear,
    how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

  7. Alex says:

Alex found this poem. We found out that adieu means goodbye as we hadn’t heard that word before.

    “The Storm” by Jaymie Gerard

    Before the storm

    The sky turns gray

    The clouds roll in

    The sun tucks away

    During the storm

    The strong wind blows

    The sky is wild

    The rainwater flows

    After the storm

    The clouds say “adieu”

    The sun peeks back out

    The sky turns to blue

  8. Aaliyah says:

    Fog 🙂

    I like the fog
    It’s soft and cool,
    It hides everything
    On the way to school.
    I can’t see a house
    I can’t see a tree,
    Because the fog
    Is playing with me.

    The sun comes out
    The fog goes away,
    But it shall be back
    Another day.

  9. Borys says:

Borys loved this one about Sun:)

    Mr.Sun

Oh Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. golden Sun,
    Please shine down on me.
Oh Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. golden Sun,
    Hiding behind a tree.
These little children are asking you
    To please come out so
    We can play with you.
Oh Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. golden Sun,
    Please shine down on,
    Please shine down on,
    Please shine down on me!

  10. Haydn Inman says:

My weather poem is called Wind, and you sing it to ‘farmer in the den’

    Wind

    Wind can help us out,
    In many many ways,
It can help to cool us off
    On hot humid days.
    It also helps move seeds
    And takes them all around.
This way plants have space to grow
    All over on the ground.
    But wind can also harm,
    All things in the way.
It can blow down trees and things,
    On a stormy day.

  11. sophie owen says:

    Sophie particularly liked this one

As the drips drop upon my head
I get the feeling that my soul is being fed
drenching me in the rain from up above
a reminder being sent down of God’s constant love

I dance in the rain to keep my peace
the freedom gives me a feeling of such great release
the waters so refreshing to me
it opens up a whole new world to see

Continue to send a refreshing rains flow
I’ll dance around in it wherever I may go
cause rain is water that replenishes the earth
And helps to keep us clean for what it’s worth.
