During our Christmas break Dylan, mummy, Daddy and baby brother Finn spend our time preparing for the visit from Father Christmas. This includes putting up our Christmas tree, which for the first time this year was a real one. It holds all the shiny baubles some which Dylan made with his tiny hand prints as a baby. Each day in December we open our advent calender’s which contain a chocolately treat and make our reindeer food.
Our Favorite day (After Christmas day that is) is Christmas Eve, if we have been really good Father Christmas sends his Elves with an early treat, new PJ’s, marshmallows and ‘the’ all important magic key. After putting on our new PJ’s and drinking our yummy hot chocolate with Marshmallows we put out our carrot (for Rudolph), Brandy (to keep Santa warm) and a mince pie on a plate by the tree. Next we put our sign to show Father Christmas where we live and hang our magic Key on the door.
We then snuggle in our bed and wait for Father Christmas and although sleeping doesn’t come easily, we finally fall asleep long enough for Father Christmas to leave us some lovely gifts.
We have presents for all the family on Christmas morning and whilst the Turkey is cooking we play with our toys. This year Nanna and Grandpa came for dinner and we had table presents to open too.
With lots of markets and craft fares we get to visit lots of nice places which smell all Christmasy, this year we visited Packwood house and ran around the gardens.
A busy holiday with lots of family visits and lots of treats, Christmas in our house is all about fun, treats and family.
We always put up our Christmas tree on the 1st December. On Christmas Eve the Christmas Eve Elf leaves us a hamper which usually contains tickets to the pantomine, some treats to take with us and a certificate to let us know we are on the ‘nice list’. After going to the pantomine we go out for lunch and then to the crib service at church. This year Milly was the Angel Gabriel and had to carry baby Jesus to Mary during the service. After a busy day we go home for an early night.
Ava loves Christmas!!! She says that she is very lucky because she gets to celebrate Christmas twice, once at home with Mommy and Daddy M and once in Scotland with Daddy Fraser, Granny Ros, Grandad Alan and Auntie Car Car. On Christmas Eve we always make sure we leave milk and carrots for the Reindeer and a mince pie and cherry (sherry) for Father Christmas. We all have to be in bed early because otherwise he won’t come! On Christmas morning we open our stockings in bed before rushing down stairs to see if there are any presents there too! This year we all had lots to open and were very, very lucky. Mommy always cooks a huge Christmas dinner for everyone and then we all have fun playing with all of our new things. Christmas is lots of fun but we always try and remember those that aren’t as lucky as us. For us Christmas is about family and spending time with the people we love.
We have just done the final (and saddest!) part of the Christmas season – taking down the tree!! We enjoyed packing the decorations away ready for next year, and had fun re-claiming the space in the room. We discussed that although Christmas is special, it would not be special if it happened every day, so with the sadness that it is all over, we can also remember that there are many things to look forward to this year before Christmas comes again, all being well!!!
Christmas is by far our favourite (and busiest!!) time of year as a family. We have some lovely Christmas traditions that already Ellis is remembering from year to year! From December 1st it’s advent calendars and this year we also did Elf on the Shelf for the first time , our Elf – Frank was very cheeky and great fun to find every morning. Then the tree, decorations, Christmas books and Christmas films come out – our favourite Christmas films are Home Alone and Polar Express. We send letters to Father Christmas and the elves with a few hints of what presents we’d like and write cards for our friends, family and teachers. Nearer Christmas we like to go and visit Santa in his grotto for a chat. Then Christmas Eve we leave treats for Santa and Rudolph and read The Night Before Christmas story.
On Christmas Day it’s all about the excitement of presents then spending time with family, first visit is always to Ellis’s 93 year old Great Grandmother and then Christmas Dinner with the rest of our family! Over the Christmas Period we love to catch up with friends and family we don’t get to see often, playing with all the new toys and enjoy the break from school and work! This Christmas we went to see Aladdin the panto which was great fun. Now we just need another break to recover!!

Ps Ava’s Mommy would also like to apologise for not doing this sooner – she somehow missed it and is very sorry!
