On Christmas Day, the FIRST and most important tradition is to check if Santa has keft and presents and if he has, open them all!! Then daddy eats his pork pie and brown sauce for breakfast. Then we always see both nannies and nan nan either for Christmas morning coffee or Christmas dinner!! Dinner is usuall about 4 pm (and Alice says is yummy), then we sit and watch a Christmas family film.
We have explained to Sebastian that because his daddy is German that the tradition’s are different to England.
German’s celebrate Christmas Eve ( Heiliger Abend) by decorating the tree on the afternoon and eating traditional dinner & then opening of the presents. He is happy at the thought of opening his presents from his German family on Heiliger Abend & another batch on Christmas Day!
I have spoken to Lee about the advent calendar he is opening each morning. We have also spoken about how each year we go and pick a tree then decorate it along with the house. As a family we also visit santa, go to a panto and most importantly on xmas eve we go to church where we were married and Lee was christened for the nativity service to remember why we celebrate christmas.
On Christmas morning, we looked to see if Santa has eaten his mince pie and drank is drink. Rudolf usually leaves only has a small bite from his carrott, we think this is because he gets so many! We then check if Santa has left any presents in the lounge. Then we open them all!! After having some fun playing with our new gifts, we get ready and visit our family. We have a lovely Christmas dinner with all of our family. After dinne more of the family will come and visit and exchange even more presents! We then play with them and have lots of fun before Christmas films come on the television.
For Riley’s advent calendar we do a different Christmas activity each day from making minced pies to arts & crafts, today we went ice skating. On Christmas eve we have hot chocolate and watch the polar express, we open one present from each other and then leave Santa & Rudolph their minced pie, carrot & milk before bed. On Christmas day we open all our presents and spend the morning at home before visiting Nanny & Grandad and all the family for dinner, then back home for Granny & Grandad to come round.
Charlie has been opening his advent calendar every morning with his big brother Tommy. Charlie understands that’s his countdown to Christmas along with a couple of Christmas decorations that we have that tells us how many days there are left till Christmas Day!!
On Christmas morning as soon as Charlie wakes up both Charlie and Tommy go downstairs to see if Father Christmas has been and left them presents, we then see if Father Christmas has eaten his mince pie and if the reindeers have eaten their carrots too! The boys then open their presents and then we have breakfast after that we get ready for our family to arrive, this year there will be 10 of us for Christmas dinner and then more family will come round in the evening so we will have to full house which Charlie loves!
Every morning up until Christmas Day, Ethan runs downstairs to open his advent calendar as see what is the behind the door (and eats the chocolate!). On Christmas Eve just before bedtime we leave a plate outside with a mince pie and cup of milk for Santa, and some carrotts for Rudolph. Christmas Day is then spent opening Christmas presents, eating lots of chocolates and lovely food and visiting both Nanny and Pa’s. The remainder of the Christmas period is visiting friends and having friends come round to play. Overall, having lots of fun.
Ava loves Christmas!!! She says that she is very lucky because she gets to celebrate Christmas twice, once at home with Mommy and Daddy M and once in Scotland with Daddy Fraser, Granny Ros, Grandad Alan and Auntie Car Car. On Christmas Eve we always make sure we leave milk and carrots for the Reindeer and a mince pie and cherry (sherry) for Father Christmas. We all have to be in bed early because otherwise he won’t come! On Christmas morning we open our stockings in bed before rushing down stairs to see if there are any presents there too! This year we all had lots to open and were very, very lucky. Mommy always cooks a huge Christmas dinner for everyone and then we all have fun playing with all of our new things. Christmas is lots of fun but we always try and remember those that aren’t as lucky as us. For us Christmas is about family and spending time with the people we love.
We always have a traditional turkey dinner but this year the sprouts came from Nanny’s garden. They were yummy but tiny! About the size of a baked bean!!

Ps Ava’s Mommy would also like to apologise for not doing this sooner – she somehow missed it and is very sorry!
