I think that christmas is about celebrating Jesus’s birthday and is not about getting its about giving. But unfortunately some people are so selfish and think christmas is just about getting. And that’s a shame because some people give lots of presents to others and don’t have any from other people. It’s so much fun for us children. But not for many adults. It’s so sad that Christmas is not fun for some people.
Jake told us that ‘Advent’ means that we are getting ready for Christmas. We are going to be learning lots more about the preparations and the meaning of Advent this week in our class. Year 1 saw an advent wreath at St.James’s church last week and the lady told us about the candles. She showed us an advent calendar too.
In Year 6, we discussed the activities we enjoy doing during advent. We enjoy spending time with our families, for example by going to see a pantomime or having Christmas parties. We like seeing the Christmas shops and we like going to see Father Christmas, especially if we have younger brothers and sisters who enjoy it too!
Year 3 have been thinking about what christmas means to them. We talked about how it is a time when we can visit family and friends and have lots of our favourite foods to eat. Christmas is a time about giving presents and not just receiving them. We talked about how it is time when some people remember Jesus and go to church.
