After assembly, year 3 had a discussion about Diwali back in the classroom. We realised that we had learnt a lot during the assembly. For example, we now know that the story of Rama and Sita is an important part of Diwali becuase it represents good triumphing over evil. Diwali is known as the festival of light and it is a time of great celebration. There are big feasts and people spring clean their homes and buy new clothes. The patterns on the blog are called rangoli patterns.
We learnt that you can celebrate Diwali by firework displays, lighting lamps, drawing rangoli patterns outside houses, leaving windows open for the Godess of Wealth, spring cleaning homes, wearing new clothes, exhanging presents, having special meals with friends and family.
