I took Riley to Shirley library and looked through several books about France!
My fact more than 300 kinds of cheese are made in France…. Riley’s fact it’s where Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck love 🙂
That is a wide variety of cheese, super challenge work Riley! Did you enjoy going to the library? Remember to ask Mummy to sign for the non-fiction text on your reading passport 🙂
Daddy took Alice to Solihull library and looked in the non-fiction section and found a book about France
Alices french fact is the Eiffel tower and Mount Blonc can be found in France
Found out this weekend that Sebastian really does not like the French language! He can not get his head around the head shoulders knees & toes in French.
Charlie has learnt that in France there is a tower called the Eiffel Tower and it is 324 metres tall which is the same height as an 81 storey building! Charlie said he would like to climb all the way to the top!
Ava (Jamieson) went to Swiss Cottage library in London and read lots of books about France. Ava learned that French people make colourful biscuits called macarons which come in lots of flavours like strawberry, lemon and chocolate. She also learned that the Eiffel Tower was built 125 years ago and has 1,665 steps.
Lee has learnt that the French eat snails and frogs legs. ! Yuk. We went to the library and got a book on France and we learnt they have mountains with snow on the tops.
We have also been watching the French songs mentioned on Youtube and have had a go at singing. Which was great fun
We shall be singing again tomorrow, the children are doing really well with the new French songs 🙂 Maybe when Lee is older he might like to try some French cooking, it is definitely delicious!
Olivia has been to the library today and we borrowed a book about France. She read it and liked to hear about the warm Mediterranean Sea in the South of France. She has also really enjoyed practising her ‘bonjour’ which she remembered means ‘hello’. She learnt that French trains are really fast and practised running like a speedy train!
We visited the library today and looked at a book about France and a picture dictionary of French words. Jared’s fact to share is that every year there is a special bike race in France called the Tour De France, where lots of people race their bikes along the road. He also learnt that the word for Firefighter in French is Le Pompier.
Finn told me he had learnt that in France they eat snails and wiggly worms with butter! We looked at lots of pictures of the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre and the French Flag, Finn’s favourite colour was red.
I’m sure that worms are not a food that French people eat, we shall ask Mrs Peltiez tomorrow and check! It is true that lots of French people like to eat snails cooked in garlic butter, and that is definitely delicious. Perhaps we could make our flags tomorrow Finn. Great challenge work 🙂
Ollie is enjoying singing the French songs and did us a show when he got home! (Remembering all the words!) We visited the library and went through a book called About France, and discovered that wolves have been extinct in France for a century. We saw a model on a catwalk and learned that French catwalks show clothes that people all over the world buy from shops on their high streets. We found out that the 2 biggest farmed exports are cheese and beverages (Wine?), and also that there is a fake beach in Paris on the River Seine. Then Ollie told me that you have this book at school too! But the best thing was that we joined the library and borrowed 3 books! (Favourite one about meteors and asteroids!) Ollie really enjoyed the library.
Megan has enjoyed learning about France especially that they speak a different language. She has learnt bonjour and au revoir!
Megan also said that the colours on the French flag are the same as ‘our flag.’
We went to the library together and Amelia said that the pylon we passed was the same shape as the Eiffel Tower. We learnt that there are 1,665 steps to the top of the tower which is 300 metres high and has over 20,000 light bulbs. France is famous for its food and three types that we talked about were yummy croissants, bouillbaise which is fish soup and ratatouille which is a vegetable stew. Then we looked at other famous buildings like the arch called the Arc de Triomphe and the museum called the Louvre and our favourite place Disney Land.
We went to Solihull library with Lou and Xanthe and we saw lots of pictures of the Eiffel tower. We learnt that it was built in 1889, it is 300m tall and has 1,665 steps, it also lights up at night and there is 20,000 lightbulbs.

Maybe when she is older… They are lovely cooked with garlic butter 🙂
Found out this weekend that Sebastian really does not like the French language! He can not get his head around the head shoulders knees & toes in French.
Maybe by the end of the week when we have had a practise he will feel more confident, it is tricky!

Great challenge work Olivia 🙂 I like the sound of that warm Mediterranean Sea too, especially now that the weather is getting colder…

Fantastic challenge work girls! I wonder how long it would take to walk up to the top of the Eiffel Tower?

Archie has been to France a few times. He loves the ferry boat and likes to buy the fresh bread and croissants from the shop.
