Foundation say that if they want to be confident they can keep trying something and working hard so that they get better and better. Lady Gaga sings infront of lots of people, and we think she has to be very confident to do that. We could help our friends be confident by being kind, and if they fall over we can help them up and make sure they are happy.
Year 1 were able to tell me the names of all the well known athletes and the singer in the photos. They said they show confidence by being happy and celebrating their success. They believe that working hard, persevering and lots of practice helps you to get better and be confident. They also knew it was important to encourage others to motivate them to do their best so that they succeed. When I asked the children who they knew that showed confidence they said ‘My dad because he is a good footballer,’ ‘Lionel Messi,’ ‘my football teacher’ and ‘Simon Cowell.’
Jack said he was confident at gymnastics because he does competitions. Grace said you need to believe in yourself to be confident and Miriam said you need to keep trying and practising to become confident. Miriam also said that people needed encouragement to become confident. The class thought Angelina Jolie was confident because she is a good actress and gets involved in world matters. They also thought Taylor Swift was a confident person to be able to get up on stage at such a young age. Richard Hammond was also a confident person because he could drive on big mountains.
In Year 6, we discussed how you can act being confident even if you feel nervous inside.
Here are some tips that we discussed:
Molly – Speak loudly, clearly and not doubting yourself.
Emily – Focus on the task.
Lydia – Don’t show your nerves – stand confidently, be aware of what you do when you are nervous and try to avoid doing this.
Harvey – Practise to make sure you are more confident.
Amelia – Believe in yourself.
To help others to become more confident, we think it is important to have faith in them and support them. Talk with them about all of their positive qualities and distract them from their worries, telling them not to give up.
In year 4 we discussed what to do to help others who lack confidence. We could:
– make sure we include them
– compliment them
– encourage them to try things
– support and help them
– show them how to be confident

Holly and Millie- we can help one another to show confidence.
Blake – we can have a go at things even when they are difficult.
Jacob S – we have to believe in ourselves.
Georgia – we can give each other examples of when we have been confident.

i had confidence when talk to people that i dont really know, but not starangers. and i also had confidence when i ate something i never had ate before when i was on holiday.
I had to be confident when i played ladies 4 woods singles in bowls it was the trials.I was really nervous about playing but i took deep breaths and thought positive thoughts.In the end I managed to play my best and get right through to the finals but sadly i got knocked out in the last round
Archie thinks Jessica Ennis has alot of confidence; she has to do hectathalons and she won gold so she must be very confident and proud of her-self.
Charlie thinks Usain Bolt is very confident; he’s fastest person in the universe known.

To build confidence Alfie suggests that we work hard to get better at the things we do. ‘We should show kindness to everyone even if they are not confident and it will make them feel better,’ says Aidan. ‘It is really important to feel brave so that you CAN do it!’ says Khai. I am confident about learning to play the piano beacouse it is quite hard and it is somthig that I have never tryed before
