Alice enjoyed learning about Jack and the Beanstalk
We discussed the tall beanstalk and the big giant and how small Jack was in comparison
Alice said Jack was naughty as he was stealing from the giant
After sharing the story (which Harvey really enjoyed) we spoke about taking things from others!Harvey said Jack was very naughty as the giant had bought the items that Jack took so they belonged to him and you should ask someone for something before you can have it.We spoke about how stealing is not good.
Isla knows this story very well and loves it when we do ‘Fee Fi fum’ in the voice of the giant! Isla was really interested that they had no money and that jack had to sell the cow to get the beans. She didn’t think it was right that jack took the goose without asking but she was glad that jack and his mum were happy in the end.
Zachary enjoys this story. Previously he has always seen the giant as the baddie because he wants to eat Jack. Today when he was asked who was in the wrong though and he thought about it, he said that Jack was wrong to steal from the giant and he would have been angry too!
I wouldn’t like anybody to steal from me either!
What do you think would have happened if Jack had explained to the giant that he was poor and needed help?
Borys liked Jack and the Beanstalk story. We discussed different measurements: small Jack, huge Giant, long beanstalk. We also discussed different moods: upset Mum, angry Giant, naughty Jack. Borys said it is not nice to take things from others without asking.
Ben was interested in how tall the giant was and whether his head would have stuck through our ceiling! He mentioned about the giant Goliath that he has learned about in Sunday School.
We chatted about how wrong it is to steal and then used daddy’s tape measure to check the sizes of stuff in the garden.
Jake really enjoyed the story and said Jack was naughty for taking the goose from the giant. We discussed how you should always ask and never just take things!
Adah found the giant quite scary but thought that Jack shouldn’t have stolen things from him. We also enjoyed measuring how tall Adah and mummy were using our hands.
Charlie thought the giant in the story was a bit scary! He also thought Jack should have asked before taking the Goose. Charlie told me that he enjoyed trying the beans in the salad at school!

Super work Borys, can you find out who has the largest feet and the smallest feet in your house? How will you measure this?
