Year 3 enjoyed the story of The Emperor, they feel the most important quality is to be honest then everyone will trust you to make the right decisions. Ling was very honest – he did not replace his seeds.
Year 1 loved this morning’s story and remembered lots of detail. They said that the most important quality for the Emperor was for him to be honest. The old Emperor tested everybody by giving them a seed to grow and care for which they did. When it was time to take the seeds back, Ling was upset and scared because his seed hadn’t grown like all the others. Year 1 said he was embarrassed. Everybody else was pleased. They were unkind to Ling as they laughed and teased him. The Emperor however made Ling the new Emperor because he was the only person that kept the original seed. He didn’t cheat and was honest which made the old Emperor very happy.
The most important quality was honesty and this was tested by giving a boiled seed to each person. The boy (Ling) thought he had killed his seed and was very upset, as his didn’t grow. However, it turns out that the other people lied and replaced their seeds so that they would grow, so the boy was the most honest. We think that the other boys might have been embarrassed when they realised what the test was. Half of our class agreed that honesty is the best quality. Others suggested further qualities such as kindness, trust and wisdom.
I thought that Ling felt relieved after all the hard work he had done and I thought that the emperor had gave the job to the right person. I also thought that the way the emperor tested they was a really good way to show there honesty.
I think it is very important to be honest. Because if you lie to a adult or your friend so say you told a teacher that I didn’t kick her if you blame it on someone and lie it can grow bigger and bigger and more people with get involved . But if you tell the truth you won’t get told off that much because you’re admitting it.Its also Important that you don’t trick people like parents because if you said to your parents I have a virus and it was a trick they could go to the police and take it serious and think your being honest so be HONEST! 😉
In Foundation we often talk to the children about the importance of telling the truth. The children thought that Ling was brave to tell the truth because sometimes it is tricky. The teachers always say thank you when a child tells the truth.
We all loved to hear the story and the most important quality of a new emperor was honesty. After hearing this story we will all make sure we will be honest in year 6. The boy Ling thought he had killed his seed because it did not grow and he had failed the challenge however all of the other people lied and replaced their seed with actual plant seeds, instead of the boiled seeds.
I really enjoyed this story and I agree that honesty is the best quality. I thought that the emperor’s trick was a really good test to see who would be the new leader.
This story was a great way to teach honesty to many people. I thought that the king tested their honest to see who was the true emperor of the kingdom. I thought that Ling must be happy to see that he was honest out of all the young kids with a good helping hand from his mom. It was a hard test and many would of not told the truth but he did. I think that it was deceitful for the kids to put a new seed but Ling kept the boiled seed and showed his good qualities. It was a great story as well! 🙂
I really enjoyed that story because it was all about honesty which I think is very important about the story. I thought that ling was surprised that the emperor chose him because he saw all his friends with beautiful plants and flowers and he just had a seed in his pot. But ling was honest and he kept the pot and he wasn’t ashamed of himself he just presented the seed in the pot to the emperor and when I heard that Ling’s friends were lying I was actually really surprised I thought that every one else just grew their plants and was it was just Ling’s seed that wouldn’t grow.

Honesty is very important. But if you lie you might get into a lot of trouble.
