Piles of snow beneath my boots
chilly winds blowing everywhere
snow keeps mounting on the posts
on the windows and on the roads
shovels outside,
soups inside
hot and rich,
chicken and corn
coming back from all the work
this is what I look for
the warm chestnuts,
the cracking fire
this is my winter warmth
I found this poem on the Internet about the weather:
Raindrops are such funny things.
They haven’t feet or haven’t wings.
Yet they sail throughout the air,
With the greatest of ease,
And dance on the street,
Wherever they please.
Joel has really enjoyed doing the poem at school and has found this one:
It’s misty, it’s foggy,
And outside’s really soggy.
If I don’t move,
And eat some food,
I’ll end up faint and groggy
Joel’s Weather Poem:
rain rain rain
what a pain
I wish it would go
So we could have snow
That’s much more fun
Then please some sun.

The poem I like is about a snowman by Shirley Brand
I made a fine big snowman
Beside our garden wall,
When I came back from dinner
He hadn’t moved at all.
But when it came to tea time,
The sun came out to play,
And my fat and jolly snowman
Melted right away
I made myself a snow ball as perfect as could be.
I thought I’d keep it as a pet and let it sleep with me.
I made it some pajamas and a pillow for its head.
Then, last night it ran away.
But first — it wet the bed.
I like looking for poems and reading what my friends have written.
I have chosen this one.
Little Raindrops
This is the sun, high up in the sky.
A dark cloud suddenly comes sailing by.
These are the raindrops,
Pitter, pattering down.
Watering the flower seeds
That grow under the ground.
The wind is blowing,
The trees are leaving.
The clouds are blowing.
The wind is trying its hardest to blow the trees to another place.
The sun is shining the rain is pouring.
The rain goes down to wet the flowers.
The rainbow comes out when the sun is shining, the rain is pouring.
The clouds are whining.
I don’t know why the clouds are whining.
It is because it is too far for them to go.
The snow is twirling, it is cold. The sun disappears behind the snow.
It is too cold for them today.
This is my poem:
I like playing in the sun,
because it is so much fun.
When the snow falls,
I like to throw snowballs.
A cloud can be fluffy,
it looks nice and puffy.
When there is a rainbow,
it makes me glow.
Aidan found this poem on google and really liked it.
Cloud
What is fluffy ?
What is white?
What can you see when skies are bright ?
What can float ?
What brings rain ?
What may be higher than a bird or plane ?
Say it out loud
CLOUD !
Euan made this poem up (with a little bit of help)
I have seen leaves falling off the trees
Flying and floating through the breeze
Thats when I know that autumn on its way
fireworks, bonfires and colder days.
Imogen chose this poem from google and really liked it:
“Under My Umbrella” by Jaymie Gerard
Under my umbrella
I like to feel the drops
Of rain – its happy tapping
Of pitter-patter plops
Under my umbrella
I like to feel a dash
Of water as it hits the ground
And rises with a splash
Under my umbrella
I like to stay all dry
And enjoy the rainy weather
As it falls down from the sky
Imogen’s poem:
I like the snowy weather
The snowflakes fall as light as a feather
I throw snowballs with my friends
But when the sun comes out our snowy game ends

Mummy read a few poems to us but we chose Dipsy Dropsy buy Leanne Guenther
Dripsy, dropsy
Pitter, patter
Falling to the ground.
Fast then slow
Until it stops
Oh what a welcome sound!
We liked it because it has lots of rain sounds in it.

Me and mummy looked on the internet at weather poems, we both liked this one
FALL
When the leaves
Are on the ground
Instead off on the tress
I like to make
A pile of them
Way up to my knees

This is a poem I really liked while me and a mummy were searching the internet about poems on wind.
It’s written by Alan Alrxander Milne
Wind on the Hill:
No one can tell me
Nobody knows
Where the wind comes from
Where the wind goes
It’s flying from somewhere
As fast as it can
I couldn’t keep up with it
Not if I ran
Snowball

Nathan liked lots of the poems we found but this was his favourite.
Splashes on the footpath
Dribbles down the drain
Trickles pretty patterns on the window pane
Soaks all the garden
Washes every tree
Fills up ponds and rivers and
Splatters on the sea
Pours on every picnic
Spoils a barbecue
Drenches all our washing and
Wets me through and through
This is Nathan’s poem:
Sunshine is the best
No need to wear a vest!
I also like the snow
On my sledge, watch me go!
Rain can be fun too
Lots of puddles, woo hoo!
This is a poem that Red has made up himself:
The wind is blowing,
The trees are leaving.

Here comes the thunder storm,
But I went outside,
Then the lightening came
And electrocuted me!
