The children listened to Mars from the planets today and they had some interesting comments about what they heard.
Isla said ‘It was good’.
Ross said ‘It was in space’.
William said ‘It was loud’.
And finally Mrs Seickell said ‘It was exciting!’
The children listened to In the Hall of the Mountain King from Peer Gynt by Greig in Hymn Practise. Aman said he could feel the mountain trolls getting closer as the music got louder and faster. Beata said it sounded a bit scary. Year 4 noticed the violinists playing pizzicato (plucking the strings). Greig wrote lots of other dramatic music such as his Piano Concerto in A minor and Wedding Day at Troldhaugen.
In year 3 we chatted about the piece of music that we listened to in Tuesday’s piece of music called ‘ Hall of the Mountain King.’ Most of us really enjoyed the piece of music. However, we did say that it made some of us feel a little scared at times because the volume and tempo kept on changing and sometimes it was very fast and loud. Some children felt that it was a little spooky
On Tuesday year 6 listened to ‘Hall of the Mountain King’
Luke said: ‘It made me feel that I was at Alton Towers’
William said: ‘It made me feel strangely nostalgic because I listened to that music as a child and it made me feel scared and excited’
Aman said: ‘This music made me feel excited’
Jai said: ‘The music was dramatic and could be used on Doctor Who’
Hannah: ‘It made me feel like I was being chased by something which was going to eat me’
Many children in Foundation were quite excited and animated about the Music today, William told me that the music was about the trolls coming and that he had heard trumpets in the music. Some of the children didn’t like to hear about the trolls though, and so we talked about how some music we might not like to listen to.
Today we listened to Short Ride in a Fast machine. Daniel said it made him feel strong. It made Chloe feel jumpy and panicked, because it has a fast pace and the pitch jumps up and down. Emily thought the music was very dramatic due to the speed of the music.
Year 1 have loved listening to all the music this week. Our favourite piece was ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’.The boy can’t marry the girl so he runs away to the mountains and is captured by a troll. The music was written over 100 years ago by a man called Edward Grieg. Imogen said she liked the start but then it got a bit scary. Jacob said it was fast and tense. Khai liked the second part best as it was fast and he could tell someone was running away. Year 1 are going to try to find some more music by their favourite composers.
The piece was absolutely amazing. It made the listner feel the beat properly and made me try to look for all the instruments that were played. I never knew that I would like classical music so much but I am a content fan now. It was dramatic and made you feel like you were on a journey with the composer Obviously the composer was not messing around when he made the puece of it would not be that good. If I had to choose my Top 2 songs then I would choose In the Hall of a mountain King and A short ride in a fast machine as the intensity, drama and it was all round good.All pieces were good but I had to choose them.I can’t wait till next weeks music.

I loved the piece Hall Of The Mountain King because I liked the story behind it and also loved some of the intruments that played the tune.
My favourite piece of music was the hall of the mountain king because it was dramatic and it reminded me of Alton towers.
