Mommy and I read the story of the Three A Little Pigs, I enjoyed the story very much and thought the wolf was very naughty for trying to hurt the pigs when all they were trying do is make make a new home!
Haydn and I read the three little pigs together, Haydn thought the pigs where good, because they built houses, especially the 3rd pig, who built the house out of brick, Haydn said he was very clever by out witting the wolf. Haydn did not like the wolf, because he said he was naughty, but he did find the ‘huff’ and ‘puff’ very funny.
We enjoyed collecting our twigs at the park this morning, Haydn measured each one with his new skylanders ruler, they are all 10cm ( ish).
Well done James, I think I might be scared of the big bad wolf too if I was a pig! Are there any other traditional tales that James likes to listen to?
James particularly loves the Gingerbread man Mrs Turner. Particularly likes to recite ‘Run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man!’
Zachary says that the wolf had very bad behaviour and that he was naughty and mean to the pigs. When I asked him how he thought the pigs would have felt he said they would have been worried and frightened. We then came to the moral question at the end and I asked him what he thought of the pigs behaviour when they boiled the pot and killed the wolf. After a great deal of consideration (approximately 10 seconds) Zachary said that it was ok because the pigs had to do it to save themselves or all 3 would have been eaten. We’ve been out collecting sticks and he wants to get some more tomorrow so he should have plenty for Monday.
Daniel thought that the wolf was very naughty, for trying to blow all the houses down and scare the pigs! He thought the first two pigs were a bit lazy for not spending enough time making their houses strong, and the third pig was good and happy because he spent a long time building his house and it kept the wolf out! He was also quite clever for boiling the pan of water under the chimney.
Alice could not wait to tell me about the wolf (she called it a fox too) in the story of The Three Little Pigs. She really enjoyed Huffing and Puffing and blowing the house down too!
Harvey and I have read The Three Little Pigs several times before so we enjoyed reading it together again!Harvey said that the pigs are very well behaved and the wolf is naughty as he kept trying to blow the pig’s houses down!
Mili enjoyed listening to The Three Little Pigs. She thought the wolf was very naughty and mean for eating the pigs. The house made of brick was strong and the straw and stick house was not very good. The pigs were scared of the wolf.
The third pig was very clever as his house was made of bricks. He also went early to pick turnips and apples before the wolf did.
Mili thought the ending was good because the wolf fell into the hot water pot.
Alex has enjoyed reading three little pigs. He thinks that the wolf is very bad, but also the first two pigs are very silly for making a house out of something that can be blown down. The pig who made his house out of bricks is so clever because he managed to trick the wolf. We had a fun afternoon collecting sticks, Alex is really looking forward to bringing them into school to build with. He also made 3 little pigs and a wolf out of plasticine.
Jake said the wolf’s behaviour is bad because he is trying to eat the pigs. He thinks the pigs behaviour is good because they are trying to stay safe from the wolf.
Ava and Georgia read The Three Little Pigs Sunday afternoon. They both agreed the Wolf was very naughty for trying to blow the Pigs Houses down, but thought the Pigs were very clever to then build their House out of bricks.
They also recognised that our house was built using bricks, so the wolf couldn’t blow our house down or we blown down by the wind.
Isla is very excited about this week’s activities as she loves this story. She has finger puppets if the wolf and 3 pigs at her great grandma’s house. She said she is hoping to get a chance of acting as the wolf!
Borys thinks the wolf was naughty because he was trying to scare the pigs and the pigs were unhappy because they could not play outside. He also said he liked the third pig most because it was clever and patient. He liked the house made out of bricks because, as he said, it was sturdy, nice and cosy as ours and neither the wolf nor the wind could blow it off.
Aaliyah loves this story and before the story started Aaliyah said she would make her house out of bricks.
Aaliyah likes the little piggies, the piggies are brothers in our version of the story. She always smiles at the “Chinny, chin, chin” part. We think the wolf is very mean and he should not have blown down two of the piggies houses.
Megan enjoys this story and loves to huff and puff at the appropriate places. She thinks the wolf is very naughty and mean to try and ‘break’ the pigs’ houses. She thought the third pig was clever to use bricks to build his house as it would be hard for the wolf to blow down.
We chose a very blustery day to collect sticks, Megan loved this activity especially as it was such a windy day!
Isla and I read the story of The Three Little Pigs together on Sunday afternoon. Isla listened very intently to the story, always curious as to the whereabouts of the big bad wolf. When the three little pigs were building their respective houses Isla was concerned that the wolf would hear them! We had a chat about the moral of the story and how the extra toil involved in building the brick house had paid off. Isla also laughed when the wolf burnt his bottom trying to come down the chimney!!
Archie was given this story book by his older brother Harvey and liked it but did not like the wolf at all, but thought the end when he came down the chimney and fell into the hot water .
It was good of Harvey to give his book to Archie, thank you Harvey. I agree with you Archie, the Wolf appears to be very unkind to the pigs. What should the Wolf have done instead?
Anaya enjoyed the story. She said that she didn’t like the wolf because it was nasty to the pigs. She was glad that the pigs were safe when the wolf ran away.
Good thinking Anaya. There does always seem to be a ‘nasty’ character in these traditional tales! I wonder who will be the character we don’t like in next week’s tale?
We have been talking about the three little pigs all week. We read the three little misses and the big bad wolf, which is a Mr and men and little miss variation on the story. Lotte says she hasn’t talked about this particular version at school because its not the REAL book. I think Lotte is secretly a little bit scared of the wolf! We talked about the different endings to the various versions of the story that we have heard/seen/read. We don’t really like the ones where the wolf gets cooked!
I haven’t read the Mr & Little Miss version, I shall have to have a look in the library 🙂 I am not keen on that ending either Lotte, what would be a better ending to the story?
Mommy and I read the story of the Three A Little Pigs, I enjoyed the story very much and thought the wolf was very naughty for trying to hurt the pigs when all they were trying do is make make a new home!
Which house did you like the most Charlie?

Thank you very much for collecting the sticks Haydn, and for measuring them too 🙂 The third pig was indeed very clever and patient.
James tells me that the wolf was ‘bad’ and the pigs were ‘happy but scared because of the bad wolf’.
Thank you Jacob, I am sure James will love next week’s learning theme!

I am impressed at the deep level of consideration Zachary! How else could the pigs saved themselves from the wolf?
Daniel thought that the wolf was very naughty, for trying to blow all the houses down and scare the pigs! Super work Daniel! Are there any other materials the pigs could have used to build a strong and safe house?
Alice could not wait to tell me about the wolf (she called it a fox too) in the story of The Three Little Pigs. She really enjoyed Huffing and Puffing and blowing the house down too!
Well done Alice, I am sure you will enjoy the role play this week!
Harvey and I have read The Three Little Pigs several times before so we enjoyed reading it together again!Harvey said that the pigs are very well behaved and the wolf is naughty as he kept trying to blow the pig’s houses down!
If the wolf needed some dinner what do you think would have been better choice Harvey?
Mili enjoyed listening to The Three Little Pigs. She thought the wolf was very naughty and mean for eating the pigs. The house made of brick was strong and the straw and stick house was not very good. The pigs were scared of the wolf.

Excellent work Alex 🙂 If you needed to build a house and didn’t have bricks, what would you use?
Jake said the wolf’s behaviour is bad because he is trying to eat the pigs. He thinks the pigs behaviour is good because they are trying to stay safe from the wolf.
Well done Jake 🙂 What other traditional tales do you like to listen to and why?

Brilliant thinking girls! 🙂

Thank you for collecting the sticks, the houses that the children have made this week look fantastic!

We had a chat about the moral of the story and how the extra toil involved in building the brick house had paid off. Isla also laughed when the wolf burnt his bottom trying to come down the chimney!!
I am impressed at Isla’s questions, she is thinking carefully about the story, well done! 🙂
Aimee thought that the pig who built his house out of bricks was the most clever pig. The wolf is “not a nice wolf”!
The third pig was very thoughtful and didn’t rush, good work Aimee. What other stories do you like to listen to or read?
