Today I have done some bird watching with Tyler in our back garden. We saw a robin and a magpie. I had great fun making an Easter picture, I look forward to bringing it in on Monday.

Darcy has done the quizes on minibeasts, leaves and seeds. The minibeast quiz was her favourite, she’s quite the expert on creepy crawlies, every day is a bug hunting day for Darcy, we love them! We also tried to identify a butterfly we saw yesterday from pictures on the computer, we think it may have been a peacock or a red admiral…
We have spoken about flowers starting to bloom and all the new baby animals. We have also talked about how the weather starts getting warmer and we can play outside more with no coats and how the nights start getting lighter and it will be light at bedtime.
This afternoon we’re going on a walk over the fields with Grandad Deeks to see what other signs of spring we can find.

    • Darcy says:

We are going to collect some flowers and leaves in the fields to press them and make a spring picture, which Darcy will bring in later in the week. We also decorated eggs yesterday, she’ll bring 1 in tomorrow.

Darcy showed us the eggs today, she informed me that they were very delicate! It sounds like you have had a super weekend Darcy 🙂

  3. The Parry Boys says:

We have been to our Nana and Grandads this weekend and watched the live video footage of the blue tit making its nest in Grandads new special bird box. Grandad told us the birds have been making the nest for 3 weeks now and we hope they will lay eggs in there. When we checked the video at night before bed we could see the bird in the bird box fast asleep. Nana and Grandad are going to let us know if the birds lay eggs and will take some photos for us from their video camera in the bird box. We are very excited that we might be able to watch the eggs hatch live one day.

    • Mrs Turner says:

That sounds amazing, your very own Spring Watch! Please let us know how they get on…I wonder how many eggs they will lay?

      • The Parry Boys says:

Nana and Grandad have sent us pictures from the bird box camera. The blue tits have laid 3 eggs this week. We are going to go and have a look over the Easter holidays. We are hoping the eggs will hatch on Easter Sunday.

  4. Rosa says:

Rosa and Sophia have been talking about spring flowers and animals with Daddy. This afternoon they have made their own matching pairs card game with spring pictures. It’s fun to play, rosa will bring hers to school tomorrow.

We went to Combe Park in Coventry and took many photos of spring, these included daffodils, tree blossom, new buds on the end of trees, birds, chicks. In our garden we have a pond which has frog spawn in which will turn to tadpoles which will turn into frogs.

  6. Tommy says:

Mommy and I watched a bit of a programme on Friday evening about lambs being born but I didn’t really like watching it. So instead we played an App on Mommys I Phone called 100 Pics and I chose the category Spring and basically you are shown a picture and have to guess what the picture is with the letters you are given. We still havent finished it all but have so far had lots of Spring pictures to guess like Lamb, Chick, Daffodils and lots more. I really enjoy playing this game as it helps me recognise, learn and spell words.

  7. Khai says:

We have talked about spring and have looked in our garden for signs of spring. I like seeing the flowers coming out, like daffodils. Also I have been watching the blossom come out on the trees. Our next door neighbour gave us an egg shell he found in his garden. He thought it may have been from a pigeon. I love playing in the garden now the weather is warmer.
