Oliver and Jacob have been talking about the nativity and feel that Jesus had special gifts because he was a special baby as the son of God. Jacob thought Mary and Joseph must have been very happy when Jesus was born and Oliver thought tears of joy. We spoke about how we felt when they were born and they seemed surprised that we too had tears of joy (and relief!) when they were born. We talked to Oli and Jay about their birth and showed them pictures of them in scan pictures and as newborns, they realise they were also special babies as twins. We talked to them about some of the many gifts we received including some ‘twin’ gifts and lovely twin cards and some special outfits. Mummy has kept many of these as keepsakes.
Khai has been looking at his nativity story book at home. He says he thinks Mary and Joseph couldn’t wait for Jesus to be born. He also said maybe they gave Jesus a toy dinosaur when he was born!
Yesterday we went to see the German Market in Birmingham and got to see a lovely nativity scene there, we could see all the people who were there when Jesus was born.
Books are a great way of finding out about old stories, especially the Nativity story, there are lots of books about that! Well done Khai, you have thought carefully about how Mary and Joseph could have been feeling. I visited the German Market this weekend too and it was very busy, sadly I missed the Nativity scene, I guess I will just have to go back!
Joel is really looking forward to the Nativity Play and has been practising his lines at home, we have talked about the story and explained that Jesus was a very special baby as he was a gift from God. We then told him how all babies are special and how happy and excited we were when Joel was born and talked about all our family and friends coming to meet him for the first time with presents! He loves looking through his baby album and also talked about when his little brother was born and how happy he was to have a baby at home!
I’m really pleased you have been learning your lines Joel, can you practice saying them in a really big voice? It is lovely that you can remember when you little brother was born, I can remember when my little brother was born. I remember eating lots of burnt things on toast because my Dad wasn’t very good at cooking!
We talked about the nativity this weekend. Eleanor has a nativity scene which she showed Euan and we talked about who was there and what gifts they brought. Euan couldnt believe that his Gran and Grandad came down to visit him when he was just born and mummy was in hospital.
Ted thought that Mary and Joseph would have been very excited about Jesus’ birth. Also he thought they would have been worried about where they were going to have him because there was no hospital. Ted said they would have been happy when he was born. Jesus got special presents because he was a special baby and Teds relatives bought him special books that they loved when they were children, to give him at his naming.
It used to be the tiger who came to tea but at the moment its the far away tree. My great aunt bought me treasure island , which i really like the look of but mummy says its for when i’m older.
Ted was telling me all about ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ and that was my favourite as a child too. My Teacher, Mrs Webb, used to read it to us in the afternoon before home time.
We spoke about the nativity and read a nativity book together – Sophie was able to tell me about all the people in the nativity. We also looked at pictures of Sophie when she was born and discussed the presents her brother bought for her – and the presents that she gave to him!

How very thoughtful boys, super thinking. It is lovely that they now realise how much their birth meant to both of you too.

Thank you for helping Euan, Eleanor. A new baby is very special and people do travel a long way to meet them!

Super thinking Ted, Mary might well have been feeling scared and excited. Which of those special books do you like to read the most Ted?

I think Sophie is getting very excited about the nativity next week. It is so kind of the children to have bought each other presents!
