What is Harvest?

-It is a celebration to say thank you for all the food. (Ted)
-People collect food for those who are poor and might not have enough food to feed their families. (Holly)

How do we harvest our Food?
Conor told us the farmer uses his machines like tractors and combine harvesters to pick and gather the crops in.
Amelia said people pick some food by hands like strawberries and raspberries. (Amelia)

Carrots (Archie), Apples (Aubrey), Potatoes (Charlie), Pumpkins (Winnie), Raspberries (Emily), Corn (Elissa), Broccoli (Lemell), Cabbage (Jovan), Pears (Jacob) and Plums (Oscar)
We have been learning songs for our Harvest Festival. The most popular song and favourite song was ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’.
‘Lots to see in Autumn’ was another favourite choice in Year 1. The children also like ‘Autumn Days.’
We started the assembly by talking about the harvest display that has been in the entrance hall over the last week. Edward (Year 5) told the assembly that the food has now gone to the helping hands charity to help others that are less fortunate than us.
Archie (Year 5) told us that someone in his family grows lettuce, Amelia (Year 6) has someone that grows potatoes, Orla (Year 4) grows tomatoes and Aiden (Year 3) has tried growing pumpkins.

Lee (Year 6) – Special occasion where we give food to people in other countries, homeless people or people less fortunate than them.
Elliot (Year 5) – Harvest is a time to be generous, can be connected to religious events.
