    Year 2 talked about the story ‘The Dot’ and shared the following:

    The teacher helped Vashti see her artwork differently – Teddy

    Vashti signed her name and felt good – Imogen W

    We need self belief so that if you believe you can’t do something but you tell yourself you can, you become more confident – Molly B

    Sometimes I find it impossible to draw – Mellehia

    Sometimes I find it impossible to skateboard – Charlie

    Sometimes I find it impossible to sit still – Lois

    Sometimes I find it impossible to do the splits – Gracie

    We agreed that our friends, teachers and family believing in us could make it all possible. Having belief in yourself and practising will also help.

    Who helped her?
    Sophia- the teacher

    What did they do?
    Matthew- she put her painting in a gold frame to boost her confidence
    Poppy-Mai- she told her to sign because it could become important

    We liked that everybody stared at it!

    What do you need self-belief for?
    Charlie T- for completing our goals
    Georgia- to meet challenges
    Matilda- you can use your self-belief to help others
    Joe- It makes you feel happy

    What’s impossible for us?
    We talked about how (Other than inevitable biology and science restraints) everything is possible if we try.

    Who or what can help us?
    Jenson- your mindset
    Madison- scientists
    Joe- coaches and experienced people
    Edward- animals, especially helping people with disabilities
    Charlie R- doctors
    Dakota- teachers and parents
    Charlie T- the internet
    Courtney- therapists

    Kyton told us it was the teacher who helped Yashti to see her art differently. He told us that the teacher asked her to sign it and the next day Yashti found her work framed and looking fantastic on the wall. Esme told us that the teacher had valued it so it made Yashti believe that her work was good. Yashti was proud of herself, Chloe told us.
    You need self belief so you can achieve things.(Kady)
    You need self-belief as it helps you to try hard and persevere when things are tricky. (Elsie)
    I need self-belief to keep on trying to ride my bike without stabilisers. (Kyton)
    Charlie said his parents help him to achieve things that are hard.
    Annabelle said all the teachers help her to believe in herself.
    Chloe C said her Nanny helps her to do well and encourages her.
    Jake said his friends and family help him.
    Orla said that her brother and sister help to motivate her to keep going.

    Who helped Yashti to see her art differently?

    Ellie – her teacher helped Yashti to see her art differently. The teacher encouraged Yashti to draw a picture of anything and then the next day the teacher displayed her artwork and it became famous. Yashti had drawn a dot.
    Olivia – her teacher asked her to sign the artwork and the picture was put in a golden frame. Yashti became well known in her school for her artwork.

    What do you need self belief for?

    Dexter – you need self belief so you can try your best at different things.
    Amelia – when a problem comes along, if you have self belief, you won’t give up.

    Is there anything you think is impossible for you to do?

    Nathan – sometimes I find it impossible to complete my homework. If I had more self belief and put my mind to it I could probably complete it.
    Freddie F – I find it impossible to draw. I think that if I tried my hardest and improved my self belief, I could get better.

    Who or what could improve your self belief?

    Riley – family could help to improve our self belief.
    Toby – yourself.

    Orla – The teacher made a big deal of the art and made yashti see the art differently.

    Isabelle – To keep going and believe in yourself.
    Dylan – To do well with work, maths and writing.
    Maya – To do a new skill like a back bend.
    Orla – To encourage ourselves/others and attempting new things.

    Is there anything you think is impossible for you to do?
    Pippa – A forward walk over.
    Jay – To Code
    Eva – Back handspring.
    Holly – Handstand Bridge

    Rio – Pippa can keep trying to achieve her goal.
    Maya – Jay could try not spend too much time on the screen to stay interested.
    Orla – Eva could keep practising the move to try and achieve it.
    Mylo – Practise with friends.
