    Year 1 said the story was about a peacock who was amongst a group of pigeons and he was upset that he didn’t look the same. he met lots of other birds and realised they all were different but all special in their own way.
    What is the message in this story?
    Elsie ‘accept who you are and be happy with yourself’
    Esme ‘be yourself and don’t try to hide and pretend to be someone else.
    What makes a good story?
    A happy ending (Morwenna)
    Good characters and the setting (Daniel)
    A scary start (Kyton)
    A good illustrator who brings the characters to life (Mason)
    Good words written by the author (Arthur)

    Year 5 really enjoyed the assembly.

    This story was about a peacock who was born into a flock of pigeons. The peacock was very colourful and felt like he didn’t belong. The pigeons made fun of how he walked and how he sounded.

    The message in this story is to treat everyone equally even if they look different or have any different opinions or beliefs. It is ok to be different and this should be celebrated.

    What makes a good story?

    Dexter – having a positive message just like ‘A peacock amongst pigeons.’
    Nathan – I like a good action storyline.
    Ellie – I like colourful pictures that help to tell the story.
