Year 6 discussed all of the questions raised by the video. We talked about how we use online to chat to friends and play games. There are lots of games we enjoy including Fifa 22 and Terrera.
We talked about what respect looks like online: Being kind, treating others fairly, listening to others’ opinions.
Year 1 enjoyed watching and discussing the video. They had lots of comments about being safe online. Mason and Minnie enjoy playing Doodle online. elsie likes to play chess online. Kyton said that he likes the Minecraft games. Esme told us about a hair Challenge game that she enjoys playing.
We talked about what being respectful looks like online.
Matilda said it was important to listen to others. Mason said it was important that we had kind words. Rosie said that we needed to use kind words and not say mean things to others. Morwenna said that we must make sure everyone is included and feels valued.
If someone is being disrespectful online we talked about telling a trusted adult and we named who we would tell. We reminded ourselves of the things that were said in the video like blocking, reporting, taking a screenshot and telling a grown up we trust.
We are going to watch the story of Digiduck and the need to use a strong password to help us to be safe.
Year 4 had many discussions about Internet safety. We watched the online presentations and took part in the Seesaw activities to find about age limits, our digital footprint and the many ways we can be SMART online. They had many ideas about how they should show respect online.
Poppy-Mai- care about others online
Jenson- be patient with your friends online
Alex- treat others the same way you’d like to be treated
Edward- don’t use mean words
Matilda- accept if someone wants to leave a game or go offline
The children named lots of exciting ways they use technology but we all agreed that a balance was important. Too much time online, we agreed, was not good for our mental or physical health. For our competition entry, we devised poems and power points about our online wellbeing.
We also talked a lot about talking to trusted adults if we felt unsafe online. We decided that regular, open and honest conversations with our parents and carers would be the best way for us to be safe online at all times!
