    What did we learn?
    Georgia- Silent night is over 200 years old
    Alex- it was first performed in 1818
    Matthew- this was the Georgian era
    Matilda- it spread from village to village, then towns and then the world
    Brandon- the poet and composer were from Austria so it was written and sung in German

    What must it have been like to hear it that very first time?
    Matilda- people must have been amazed
    Finley- shocked, in a happy way
    Elliot- so overwhelmed they may have passed out

    How did it make you feel as you listened?
    Courtney- chilled
    Poppy-Mai- relaxed
    Joe- happy and joyful
    Matilda- tired

    We thought about our favourite carols/ songs…
    Miss Wilson- it was on a starry night
    Ben B- Heaven on earth
    Edward- jingle bells
    Charlie R- boogie Santa

    Year 1 enjoyed listening to the music and watching the animation.
    Charlie said that listening to the music made him feel happy.
    Mason said he felt calm and relaxed.
    Brooke said that it made her feel sleepy and it was like a lullabye.
    Chloe said it made her feel Wintery and cold.
    Reggie remembered that the music was written in 1818. Kyton told us that this was over 200 years ago. Year 1 were very surprised that it is such an old piece of music.
    Elsie told us that it spread around the World because it told of the very First Christmas. We talked about the word holy meaning belonging to God.
    Our favourite songs are:
    Rocking Around the Christmas Tree (Mason)
    Twinkle, Twinkle (Annabelle)
    Bang Goes the Cracker (Dorothy)
    Shiny Baubles (Charlie)
    Jingle Bells (Brooke)
    Stop the Cavalry (Elsie)

    We left assembly early for our Science investigation but we have learnt so much from the blog comments on here!

    We didn’t know that:

    Silent night is over 200 years old, it spread from village to village, then towns and then the world, the poet and composer were from Austria so it was written and sung in German.

    Lois – We think the people felt calm when they listened to it for the first time.

    Imogen A- Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
    Finnley and Sophia – Christmas Alphabet
    Liliana – Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

    Children said it made them feel:

    Aryan- Happy
    Liliana – Calm
    Finnley – Relaxing
    Imogen – Calm

    Molly and Lois – it makes people think of the birth of Jesus

    What must it have been like to hear it that very first time?
    Caleb – Confused because it may have been something different.
    Lee – Confused with where it came from.
    Zach – Amazed because it is something new.

    How did it make you feel as you listened?
    Riley – annoyed as I don’t like the song.
    Ellie – Tired as they sing quite slow.

    Toby & Lily-Grace – Rockin’ around the Christmas tree.
    Nathan – Christmas is coming
    Scarlett – Pitching in and helping out
    Olivia – We wish you a merry christmas.

    Mylo – the carol is very peaceful.

    How did it make you feel as you listened?
    Pippa – It would make you feel sleepy.
    Gwen – Tired and relaxed.
    Dominic – Sleepy as it is a slower song.

    Reuben – I like all of the songs for our performance.
