    Year 2 bubble:
We learnt a lot about the festival of Purim and listened to the story of Queen Esther:

Mylo told us that in the synagogue the read the story of Queen Esther. When Hamans name is mentioned people stamp their feet, boo and rattle instruments.

Isaac told us how the Jewish people dress up in Hamans head dress – yellow and red.

Jay said they eat biscuits shaped as triangles to symbolise Haman’s head dress. They put icing or jam on them.

Eva was able to tell us that they Jewish give gifts and money to charity to celebrate the festival.

The Jews celebrated Purim because when the queen got all her courage to ask the king to put a stop to Hammond.

People dressed up for Purim because it is special time of year

For the festival people fasted food and water

When Hammond came by the Jews made bad noises.

When Hammond was out kill the Jews all they ate was seeds.

When the queen put a stop to Hammond the Jews gave her gifts.

The festival of Purim is celebrated by Jews from all around the globe as it symbolizes the existence of Judaism. During the festival people make a booing sound when you mention Hamon(the bad guy who tried to exterminate the Jews) and people dress up and do charitable work.

Purim, means Feast of Lots, a joyous Jewish festival commemorating the survival of the Jews who, in the 5th century BCE, were marked for death by their Persian rulers. The story is related in the biblical Book of Esther. Purim is celebrated on Friday, February 26, 2021.

I like how they have a story to remind them that everyone should be
treated the same no matter there beliefs.

It’s also good that the kids learn to not judge people because of there beliefs and to include EVERYONE.
