Pippa: I worked as a part of a team when I did cheerleading as part of Rainbows
Dylan: I worked in a team in Boys Brigade and I was the team leader. In Lockdown we had to walk so many miles in order to raise money as a team.
They persuaded the villagers to share their items in return for some stone soup. The stones were a way of getting their attention to share.
What did the villagers learn through making the stone soup?
They learnt to share and let other people use their food and ingredients. Through mutual respect they were able to produce a better meal altogether.

James said that it was at this point that the villagers started to get interested and began to contribute food to the soup. The villagers learnt the importance of teamwork to make something special and to help people.
We linked the assembly to our PE lesson because today it involved working as a team to score points. We chatted about the need to help one another within the team, to be supportive and encouraging of one another. After the lessons we share examples of good teamwork within the lesson.

Chandler: The mouse then helped the birds my chewing the net. He was important because without him, the birds wouldn’t have freed the net
We listened to the song by the Beatles. We spoke about the chorus ‘I get by with a little help from my friends’ and the line ‘Do you need anybody? I need somebody to love’ The children said:

Charlie told us that the mouse was an important member of the team as he worked with the pigeons to help free them. Molly said she was proud of the King pigeon because he asked that all the other pigeons were set free first before himself.

The villagers were mean not sharing their food or offering a bed for the night. The soldiers were clever to make the soup.
