Minnie really enjoyed the blue balloon story. I told her that I used to have this book when I was little! Minnie counted that when the balloon was square it had 4 sides. Her favourite part was when the balloon turned into a rainbow balloon at the end and when the little boy was eating sausages for his dinner! We found out that Mick Inkpen wrote lots of other books about Kipper the dog and Wibbly Pig! Minnie said if she could have a magic balloon she would like to fly to heaven to see her Nanny Pauline and then fly to Poppy and Lily’s house to play.
Mason searched his house for colour blue and found his carpet, dressing gown, slippers, toy garage, toy car, play tent, car mat, walls, bag and a folder. They either had blue on them, or were blue all over.
Dorothy went to the park and found a picture of a blue damsel fly on the park map. We tried to hunt for one but couldn’t find a real one. She did see lots of other blue things in the park, like the blue sparkly tights she was wearing, and lots of blue cars in the car park!
After reading the blue balloon book, Dorothy drew a beautiful picture of where she would like a magical balloon to take her. She said “I’d like the balloon to take me to a really warm sunny village… with a caterpillar, a ladybird and babies?!?!?”
Jake watched a video of the book ‘The blue balloon’ on YouTube and really enjoyed the story. We chatted about what the little boy did to try and pop the balloon. We blew up some pink balloons we had and he loved blowing them up and letting the air whiz out of them. This really made him laugh!
