Year 3 loved the story ‘In my heart’ We thought it was a great way of showing all of the different feelings that we have in our heart. We talked about the different feelings that we have such as happiness, fear, nervousness, excitement….’ We chatted
about how we are feeling today.
We discussed what makes our heart happy like a big yellow star. Some of the things that we talked about are riding our bike, playing with our friends and baking with our family. We also talked about what makes us worry like when we are playing a new football team or before a performance. We talked a lot about how we have to manage our feelings and how our zones of regulation really helps us to do this at school.

Zachary – Zachary sometimes feel worried when he watches the news. He talks to his Mum and Dad about it to make him feel better. He also worries when he doesn’t get a text straight back from his friends so he would text his friends first to make sure everything is ok.

Will said he doesn’t like Mondays so his heart felt a bit sad and annoyed this morning. He said he has felt happier as the day has gone on.

Kyton said his heart feels excited because he can see his friends.
Reggie said his heart feels excited because he can’t wait to see his brother after school.
Maddie said her heart feels happy because she is looking forward to seeing her mummy and daddy after school.
We also discussed times where we may feel worried. F2 said they can sometimes feel worried after bad dreams and talked about how to work through our worries.
Year 1 enjoyed watching the ‘Feeling Good’ powerpoint and answering the questions as we went through the slides. They particularly liked discussing the faces and guessing the feelings and expressions.
We discussed our worries – some of them included the dark and not having a nightlight, friends being unkind, hurting ourselves or our families being hurt, Coronavirus, finding something really hard and people arguing.
Everybody in year 1 shared their special place where they liked to relax and what they do to relax. Mrs Doidge said she liked sitting on her patio and looking at the flowers and trees and listening to the birds. Mrs Quadri and I like to walk in the fresh air and countryside looking and hearing all the sounds and sights of nature. Finnley said he likes to play on his games to relax. Aiden said he likes relaxing at home with his Mum. Molly likes to relax when she is lying on her bed. Annabelle likes to relax by the seaside. Emma likes to relax in the park.
We tried to close our eyes and take some deep breaths and think of nice places to be to help us relax.
