This morning Matilda has learnt about food chains. She has made a visual woodland habitat food chain from toilet roll tubes, she has written the names of the plant/animal next to them and whether they are a producer or consumer and if they are a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. She has also planned a party for her and 4 of her friends with a £20 budget. She wrote a list of everything she would need and then we went online to asda to look at the prices of everything. She made decisions as to how much of each item she would need and whether she would need a bigger or smaller packet. She got all of her party supplies for £16.46. Here is her list:
Cupcakes £2
Paper plates £1
Plastic cups £1
Bread 55p
Strawberry jam 74p
Butter £1
Sausage rolls £1.40
Wotsits £1.50
Blackberries £1.69
Pineapple 50p
Balloons £1
Maoam sweets to give out when playing party games 90p
Lemonade 33p
Prize for winner or games (colouring book and pens) £2.85
So impressed with how Matilda has tackled the party planning challenge and for getting all of her supplies for under budget!
She has thought of everything and her party sounds like it will be a good one. A super day’s learning Matilda. Well done!
Matilda watched the story of Little Phil and Harry the Spider. She wanted to write a story of her own about the characters. Here is her story:
The Bike Ride
One day Little Phil and Harry the Spider went to the park. Phil bought Harry a special bike with six pedals, one handlebar and a drink holder. Phil helped Harry to jump onto his bike and gave him a push. Harry peddled with all his might and said “this is fun”. While they were riding their bikes, they spotted a squirrel who looked very sad. They went over to the squirrel and Harry said “are you okay?” “I’m said because I can’t ride my bike” said the squirrel. “Come on” said Phil “we will help you”. They gave the squirrel a big push and he said “wheeeeeee” so they all rode around the park together. The End.
Love your story Matilda, that bike with six pedals is brilliant. I’m very impressed with your use of speech marks, it is a great addition to your story.
