Today I have been making my decomposer. I got a empty lemonade bottle and took off the labels, put some soil in the bottom, then we put some banana skins, an apple core, some egg shells, some leaves and some grass. Then we watered it and put drainage holes at the bottom of the bottle. Over the next few days I have to keep on watering it and mixing it so the bacteria has different types of food to break down.
Decomposition is the process where bacteria and fungi, break down the dead organisms. They break it down by releasing enzymes on to the dead matter and afterwards, consume the broken down substances. The process of decomposition
    completes the food chain.
A few food chain examples in my garden are –
    1. grass – rabbit – fox
    2. nut – squirrel – kesstrel ( a type of bird)
At the bottom of the food chain you have the producer. Then the animal/ insect that eats the producer is called a primary consumer and the next in the food chain is called a secondary consumer.
I am looking forward to seeing what my decomposer pot looks like when it’s finished.

It looks like you have had another busy day Anaya. Fantastic work! well done.
Wow Lexi. I have learnt so much. It sounds really interesting. Let us know how it goes and send some photos at different stages of decomposition. Great work!
