I have had a listen and decided which are my favourites.

    Hungarian Dance no. 5
    Vivaldi – Winter
Habanera – I love the opera Carmen

I don’t play an instrument but I do have a love of music and lots of different musical genres.

  2. Gail Roberts says:

I loved George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as I love the sound of the clarinet. Sadly i can’t play one myself.

  3. Reuben O yr 1 says:

I liked the Earth one because it made me think about memories. It was very loud too.

I am pleased to hear you enjoyed it Reuben.

Music can make you think of all kinds of things and is very powerful.

  4. 14JNorris says:

    James’ favorites where:
Music for 18 Musicians (excerpt) – Because he liked the sound of the instruments where playing. Like you want to get up and dance.
‘Ride of the Valkyries’ from ‘Die Walküre’ – Because it kind of sounded like star wars. Its a really exciting tune.

    Jacob’s favorite where:
Doctor Who – Because an orchestra wouldn’t be able to replicate this music. The sounds made me feel like I was time traveling myself. I liked that the music was made by making different sort of digital sounds.
Music for 18 Musicians (excerpt) – Because I felt like I was on a tropical island.
‘Winter’ from ‘The Four Seasons’, Allegro non molto (1st mvt) – I really enjoyed this as I could really picture winter and being outside in the winter weather. This is one of mummies faviourites too.

We are going to have a go at drawing some pictures to represent our music later today and also try making some musical instruments this week.

How lovely to hear from you both. Thank you for answering my blog.

I am pleased you found some music that you really liked and when you were listening it took you to other places. Music is very good at doing that.

Enjoy drawing your pictures and making those instruments.

  5. Pippa Year 1 says:

I liked listening to the orchestra and children’s choir. I learnt that the person at the front of the orchestra is called a conductor. I also liked listening to the sound of the Sitar. I would like to learn to play a guitar, violin and trumpet.

It was lovely to hear from you Pippa and I pleased you enjoyed listening to some of the music.

I am sure you will get the chance to learn to play an instrument one day.

  8. Archie Wilson says:

My favourite piece of music that I listened to was the sitar player, ‘Gaurav Mazumdar’. I enjoyed this one because it made me feel like i was in the country India. I have played a viola, keyboard, guitar, ukeale and recorder before. My favourite instrument is the guitar when tuned properly because I think that its sounds better.

    • Miss Mason says:

I like the guitar too Archie.

I agree it can sound really good especially if it is tuned properly.

  9. Harry Wilson says:

I liked the Edvard Grieg In the Hall of the Mountain King from ‘Peer Gynt’ because it is a fast piece of music. It is as thought they are running around looking for the Mountain King. I think that the Mountain King is an ugly character who does not want to be found.

I have played the bass drum at Boys Brigade. I like it because it is loud and I can beat it as loud as I want! I do have a ukulele at home but have not been taught how to play it.

  10. Miss Mason says:

I am glad you enjoyed listening to the music Harry.

Playing a bass drum must be great fun. I do not think I have ever played a bass drum but I think I would enjoy it.
