This morning I have been thinking about my secret garden and came up with some idea’s of what I would like in it. I then drew my garden and wrote a description of the garden. Here is a section of my description:
My garden has scented flowers and tall, green trees with owls and birds in it. The birds are singing gently.
High up in the trees there is a treehouse where I can sit and relax. When I think about my garden I feel calm.

Here are some of my sentences:
“My secret garden is vast and extremely beautiful. There are colourful flowers that smell like cherry. The sun is as bright as gold. There is a calm pond, a swimming pool and a marshmallow shooter”
Oh wow Alex you have used similes. My favourite simile that you have used is ‘The sun is as bright as gold.’
I love the word ‘vast’ because it is more powerful than big. Good work Alex!
I remember when we were still in school, Dylan came up with some lovely ideas for his garden, he wanted to include, ‘a water fall with healing water’. Isn’t that what just what we all need now! 🙂
I found it a bit tricky to get started on this but once I got going it was easier. I loved Alex’s word vast so I have used it in mine too.
My secret garden is vast and full of beautiful statues of tigers and dragons. In the summer they shoot out jets of water that sprinkle onto your head to keep you cool. It’s so quiet you can hear a butterfly flapping its wings and caterpillars munching on the leaves. There are plants with beautiful white flowers that never die and leaves that never fall off. You can see strawberry plants, fig trees, cheery trees, grape vines and orange trees in a wonderful glass greenhouse. You are allowed to taste the delicious figs from the fig drying area which is in a sunny corner. In my secret garden it is sunny and never rains. The sky is as blue as a sapphire and a breeze gently blows on your face.
I have written about my secret garden this morning and drawn a picture of it. Some of my sentences are ‘I would have daffodils that shine like the sun’ ‘there would be sweet smelling lavender and long green grass’ ‘A pretty unicorn would water the plants and a fluffy bunny would happily hop around.’
I really liked Alex’s word ‘vast’ so I used it in mine too.

Wow Elliot. What a vivid description of your garden. I love that you have thought about the different senses to help the reader imagine what it is like. You have started your sentences in different ways and you have used punctuation and conjunctions to join your ideas. Fabulous.
