  1. YEAR 6 says:

    Apollo 11 was special because it was the first time humans had landed on the moon.

    The astronauts names Micheal Collins, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin.

    The challenges they faced were when the automatic computer system sent then to a dangerous area, computer problems overloading their systems and nearly running out of fuel.

    Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. He said one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

    Everyone had ‘It won’t fail because of me’ on posters because if one person made a mistake it could have all gone wrong. They needed to work as a team. All of their roles were important.

    The roles included the scientists, the technicians, the cleaners, the astronauts.

  2. Foundation 2 says:

    Thank you for the interesting video clip on space and the first moon landing. Foundation found this a bit difficult to follow but the facts that we found out where:
    – the moon is in space
    – the first man to walk on the moon was Neil Armstrong
    – there is no gravity on the moon
    – Not many people have walked on the moon but alot of people have helped get them up there.

    We talked about what it means by ‘it wont fail’ and Molly B said that means ‘it wont go wrong’.

  3. Year 1 says:

    Year 1 told me that Apollo 7 was the first space craft to successfully land on the moon. Sebby told us that the astronauts were called Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldred and Michael Collins.

    Sebby told us that the Apollo 11 had a tricky landing as it was very short of fuel and nearly failed to land on the moon. It was a bumpy landing but they made it. Alfie said that everyone involved must have been so relieved.

    Mylo said that Neil Armstrong was the first man to land on the moon. As he did it he said ‘ One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’

    The posters were to encourage them to work as a team and so that they all knew that their part was just as important as the anyone elses.

    Year 1 said that their were technicians, scientists, astronauts, engineers, space craft builders and seamstresses among just a few of the many people that helped to make the Apollo 11 mission possible.

  4. year 4 says:

    Adah: Apollo 11 was special because it was the first spacecraft to get to the moon.

    The astronauts names Micheal Collins, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin.

    Oliver: One of the problems they faced was that they were running out of fuel but they safely landed on the moon.

    Lexi: Neil Armstrong was the first person to land on the moon. He said ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’

    Everyone had an important role, even the people who cleaned and sewed the suits together. This is why they had the motto ‘it won’t fail because of me’

  5. s14cpayne says:

    Zunnurain could remember the names of all 3 astronauts who travelled on the spaceship! It was the first time that man had landed on the moon and walked on the moon! Riley remembered that the mission was in 1972! BEFORE Miss Payne was born!! Dexter remembered that the ships computers stopped working properly and only had 20 seconds of fuel left but they worked together as a team to overcome the problems! Toby knows the spaceship was called Apollo 11. Some of the jobs that were needed for the mission included:
    * mathematician (HARIS)
    * scientist (AMELIA)
    * constructing the spacesuits (HARRY W)
    * cleaners (FINLEY)
    * technician (NATHAN)
    * engineer (OLIVIA)
    * astronauts (LUKE)

    We enjoyed the film and understand how important it is to WORK AS A TEAM!!!
